Sound Issues With Logitech headphones
I have the G935 and you can't hear the voices in the single player game. I tried disabling surround sound and that didn't work. Gears 4 had this same issue and they never fixed it. I can't believe you have it again.

I had the same problem, I fixed it by downloading Dolby Access https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/dolby-access/9n0866fs04w8?activetab=pivot:overviewtab didn't activated anything, just downloading it through the windows store fixed it for me.

My mate had also a problem with his Logitech and Dolby Access didn't fixed it for him, he managed it with fxsound.

So same Logitech headphones one work with Dolby Access the others don't and work with Fxsound ... go figure ...

Thanks guys. What is fxsound? Is it basically a surround sound simulator ? Do you run it at the same time as the logitech software? Or do I shut off the logitech software first?
it's a sound enhancer , i run this soft with the logitech's one

Basically, go to the Windows Store, install Dolby Atmos (free 30 day, $15 for lifetime ownership... worth it... trust me...) and install it.
Then go to your Start -> Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controls -> Logitech (mine was G933), update, choose manaual update, choose update from manual location, and choose USB drivers.

From there you should be able to go directly into your sound advanced settings and under "Sound Control Panel" -> right click Properties -> Spacial Sound -> DOLBY ATMOS FOR HEADPHONES

That's ridiculous. They still haven't fixed this yet?

I spent many hours looking at guides like the one here on how to fix this issue, yet to no avail, and after about 2+ hours scouring the web for the correct approach, I finally found it. (G933 Logitech Headphones, previously set on 7.1 with DTS on).

THIS IS PROVED TO FIX THE AUDIO ISSUES WITH GEARS 5 ON PC. No more suffering with crappy surround sound with jank work arounds, now you can enjoy Gears 5 in all it's glory, chainsaws and all.

Here is a my step-by-step screenshot guide on how to fix this (descriptive text below)[imgur.com]

Go to the Windows Store, install Dolby Atmos (free 30 day, $15 USD for lifetime ownership... worth it... trust me...) and install it.
Then go to your Start -> Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controls -> Logitech (mine was G933), update, choose manaual update, choose update from manual location, and choose USB drivers, let it update and it should say "done".
Now close out of all those options, go back to your Sound settings. Go into Sound control panel, right click on your active Logitech headset, and go into "Properties". Go to "Spacial Sound", and you should now have a dropdown option for "Dolby Atmos for Headphones"

CONGRATULATIONS, GEARS 5 NOW WORKS WITH PERFECT SOUND! WOO!

Unfortunately not. It's because the game devs blame Logitech, and Logitech in turn blames the game devs, so everybody just stands there in a shouting match doing nothing about the issue.

LMFAO! They blame Logitech? How on earth would that ever make sense? No other game has this issue and somehow this is Logitechs issue? Every other game developer's games manage to not break with Logitech headphones but theirs? .

Sadly still sounds like a tin can echo with this solution. The game just doesn't sound good with Logitech headphones. Play it with steamlink on my TV? It's fine. Logitech? Just... Sounds horrible. I've actually given up on the game's campaign because the game just sounds horrible and on occasion play horde mode.

Yes, I can fix the directional issue, but you lose so much of the game by having crap sounding audio.

Confirmed. This fix works with the Logitech G935 which only supports DTS:X. After installing Dolby Access, it will say the headset is not compatible if you try to "setup" your headset.

"Skip" this setup process instead and go straight to 'device manager' in windows.

Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers
Right click 'G935 Gaming Headset' -> Update Driver

Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
Select 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer'
Select 'USB audio device'
Done

This problem is RIDICULOUS!
It blows my freaking mind, not only that the issue made it past beta testing in the first place, but also that it's *still an unresolved issue*!
Wasted all morning on this issue, and now am going to just give up and play with the half-ass dolby-atmos "fix", which is going to require me to change the stupid driver every time i want to play the stupid game. *this is not a FIX*, this is an abomination of a workaround.
The game *does* sound better than if you manually lower the audio quality in the config...
And it *does* bring the voices up to livable level...
But *other than fixing the super quiet voices*, the game doesn't sound as good as it did with the default drivers *that literally work with EVERYTHING ELSE ON MY PC*.
I'm not a conspiracy nut, but it dam near feels like some stupid ploy to convince people to buy dolby atmos.
I shouldn't need to buy 3rd party software just to get proper sound out of a game for pete's sake.
grrrrr rawr mumble rant!!
btw, if there's any update on any sort of official/proper fix for this, please let me know! (let us ALL know!)
Oh, and Merry Christmas everybody! :D :D :D

While messing around with new headphones (Sennheiser HD599's) I reinstalled this game to try them. They're just stereo headphones. Game sounds fantastic. The solution is just to use a pair of stereo headphones and the games built in dolby atmos. It's not a real solution, but the games audio simply does not work with Logitech Surround Sound. There won't be a fix as the game is too old as this point for them to honestly care, and it doesn't seem to effect any other company but Logitech.

Also, the Dolby Atmos program running on the G933 / G935 is still not as good compared to other stereo headphones that are intended to be stereo headphones. Anyone saying it sounds good that way hasn't heard it on proper stereo headphones of equal price to the 933/935.

Sadly this will be the last Logitech Branded headset I purchase as they have dropped Dolby as a sound option on newer ones and only use DTS X, which sounds like a tin can to me.
