The problem is that they use Dolby Atmos. You need to do something to enable it on your PC, but to do so .... you have to use the search and find it yourself.
Search in windows for %localappdata%, then go to Gears5, Saved, Config, PC, GameUserSettings.ini, and change sg.AudioQuality=3 to sg.AudioQuality=0.
-If you have a headset plugged into a controller on PC, this is a known issue. We recommend directly plugging the headset into the PC and not the controller
-There is also a known issue when playing the game with a sample rate of 44.1 kHz. We recommend changing the sample rate to 48 kHz.
1. Open the Sound Settings window and then left click on “Sound Control Panel” to open a new window
2. In the new “Sound” Window left click on the current audio device.
3. Left click on Properties to open up the “Speaker Properties” window
4. In the new window, left click on the “Advanced” tab
5. Left click on the dropdown and select “16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
6. Left click on the “Apply” button to finish the selection.
7. Close the windows and enjoy the game!
You know, for a game that has been lauded as having THE BEST graphics options of any PC game in existence, they sure made the audio option as useless as nipples on a breastplate.
Sorry to hear that stuttering kept you from enjoying the game. As far as the audio issue I was having goes, I was able to set my Realtek audio to stereo, and that corrected the sound issue. Nevertheless, I really appreciated you posting the solution you had found, and I think it could help others!
I will let you know if this works. I had mine set to 24 bit 96khz. Never had 1 game be it an issue. EXCEPT Gears 5.
I'll confirm later if this works.
This is not a fix, you simplely have to make sure your device is outputting stereo and not 5.1 or 7.1. (or else you loose center channel)
My speakers work fine with 2.0 channels, 48 khz is default 24 bit. Onboard audio
My headset (g935) is 7.1 and cannot be changed so im stuck with speakers unless i don't use them wireless and plug them directly in to the headset port for 2.0 (onboard audio)
if you have logitech headset with dts or dolby they output 7.1 even if you turn surround off in the settings of hgub or lgs. it simple takes 7.1 and down mixes it to stereo
this fixed it for me. I'm using Logitech G560 speakers. This should be Marked as Answer. This tells me the game supports different audio setups but they've forced Atmos and didn't put a simple menu in to change it. The fix should be easy, but it's a bad oversight.
