I keep getting this error for no apparent reason. I will get to the menu, and it will run for a few seconds, then the error just pops up. I've restarted Windows, updated my drivers, and this still happens. I have a GTX 980, and it works just fine for literally any other game, including Gears 4.

Edit: Apparently I can hang on the menu as long as I want, but it gives me the error when interacting with certain menu elements (like Tour of Duty and whatever the notification thing on the bottom is).

Edit 2: Seems like Nvidia is releasing the drivers on the 10th.

Edit 3: So apparently this happens when you're on an older version of Win10, or you don't have the Win7 DirectX12 port. After a painful update process (I essentially had to do a clean install of Win10), the problem seems to be resolved so far.

Try reading what you're replying to. The game doesn't allow "minimal action", it crashes in the menu. It can launch a benchmark, which runs great. Doing ANYTHING ELSE crashes the game, full stop.

"Minimal action" Yes, my updating of drivers, verifying cache integrity, restarting windows, scowering the internet for answers, disabling all overlays, and messing with Nvidia Control Panel, is just so minimal. Spending an entire night and morning trying to troubleshoot all solutions I can isn't trying, I guess. This isn't a problem with performance, the benchmark says I run the game just fine. It just crashes with a video card error whenever anything on the menu gets pressed, so adjusting the settings isn't an option. And monitoring gpu and cpu usage? Yeah, the menu runs at a solid framerate, and so does the benchmark, but I can't monitor while playing cause the game literally wont let me play. Have you read a single thing I said? If this was a specs issue, it would give a different error (I think it's GW501).

I had same error Nvidia GTX1080 in SLI (X2) but i played through roughly an hour into campaign then got error message box where i clicked ok and it shut down game and sent error report to M$

Had the same issues with guaranteed crashes upon touching settings in the main menu and upon trying to start the game, GTX 980. Run benchmark once, crashed when trying to access video settings from benchmark rsults screen.
Installation of windows 10 (version 1903) helped. Tried only once, was able to access the settings and walk through the training, will try the campaign and horde tomorrow, hopefully.

Weird, I tired updating and it brought me to 1703 instead. Though I also heard 1903 has many issues on its own.

If the problem is Win10 version that might be it. the steam page says it has win7 support, but Microsoft doesn't seem confident in that claim, annoyingly enough. It has to do with requiring DirectX12, but I think they're trying to port that to Win7

Hello i use windows 7 too, i was getting the same error.
In the settings the video was set to recommended, all the options were set to ultra.
In other post i read to set minimum FPS to 30 and Max FPS to 60, i changed only those options and now i do not get that error anymore.
