Can't play as Sophie/Ep 5?

From what I read on the wiki, Sophie should be playable in episode 5. No one has died on my playthrough, yet for some reason at the beginning of the episode when I go to call her, it just beeps. I can only select his sponser and Etienne. Is this a save file glitch or something? Also I should mention, if I look at the episode through episode select, it DOES show her as selectable, and still alive. I played her in episode one and two, does that have something to do with it? I can't find anything else about this on the wiki, and I've seen playthroughs where no one dies, and people using her and calling her with a cutscene in chapter 5. Also, when I selected his sponser, (Lidia) There was no cutscene, he picks up the phone and then it just cut to me playing her at the place.

Unfortunately, that means Sophie has probably died some way or another, as the beep sound you hear can also be heard if Sophie/Etienne is called when they are dead. Try restarting the episode? Was Sophie also present in Episode 4?

Oddly no, she wasn't present in episode 4 as a selection. There are only three choices in episode 5 at the start, Etienne, Sophie, and his sponsor. No one has died, I'm 100 percent sure, so it must be some kind of save bug. I've come across a few camera glitches that required going back to the main menu and restarting, but nothing like this. So far I'm playing as his sponsor, but maybe it's because I played as Sophie in both episode one and two and she doesn't want to go? lol IDK.

Omar and Etienne and Ernest were only selectable in episode 4, and I went with Ernest and cleared it without him dying, so I can only assume because of episode 3, being as I played all three, but daniel last, something got messed up. Even NOW in my active save file, when I go into which game save to load, it shows those three characters, and Sophie is alive according to the menu.

Ok, so from what I can tell, something in the game was changed since the wiki has been updated. I beat that playthrough, and started another where I'm killing off people on purpose, just to see who I can get to show up in later episodes. From what I can tell, if Etienne and Sophie are still alive by Chapter 4, it seems to pick one of them based on certain choices maybe, not sure if picking her twice in a row for Chapter 1 and 2 caused anything, but something has been changed since the last person changed stuff on the wiki.

Sophie will still appear in the menu screen in Chapter 5 regardless of whether she's alive or dead. If Sophie wasn't present in Episode 4, she must have died in Episode 1/2, because Omar can only appear if he completed the library section of Episode 3, and Sophie/Etienne is dead.

I'll explain who can get on later episodes.

Sophie and Etienne will always be in Episode 4 and 5 unless they are dead. If they die, the following characters can take their place in Episode 4 and 5. If both are dead, two characters can take their place.

Alexander Laskin - He can take Sophie/Etienne's place if one of them is dead in EP 4, as long as he completes EP 1

Erica Farber - The only character that can be carried over to EP 5 due to the plot. She can only appear in EP 4 if Etienne/Sophie is dead, she completed EP 2 AND Alexander did not complete EP 1. If Alexander completed EP 1, he would appear instead of Erica. Erica is also playable in EP 5 if she was in EP 4 and alive, albeit only after the first character dies. (If Sophie/Etienne/Lidia dies, Erica will help Daniel instead of himself)

Omar and Grace - These two work in a similar way, yet only one can be in EP 4. Sophie/Etienne must be dead to make space for one of them, and they should complete the library part of EP 3 (E.g. If you want Omar in EP 4, use him) HOWEVER, this is only possible the space is not taken up by Erica/Alexander.

Other characters like Ernest and Alina will only appear in their respective episode, and Rene from EP 2 is only playable in his debut episode as well as EP 3 if he completed it.


Random note here, if you ever consider replaying, I recommend you to try the 'Erica Farber' route, as she has a good character arc. Just kill off Sophie/Etienne, play her in EP 2, don't play Alexander in EP 1 and kill someone off in EP 5 for her to appear.

Then my save must have been bugged or something, because I'm 100% certain no one died on that playthrough, yet sophie was unplayable in episode 5. I've been messing around seeing who can go to later episodes, etc. It's kind of cool to see some of the other cutscenes, but dissapointing it doesn't have more of an impact. Of course I'm sure that choice was made because the way characters are disposable.

After reading what you posted, the save being bugged is the only thing that would make sense, why omar was in episode 4, because I completed the library portion with him.
