Episode 2: Storage Room keys don't discard?
Or do I keep missing a door on my playthroughs? Anyone else as thorough as me knows?

Normally ingame, when you use a key at all available spots it will automatically discard.

I'm certain I used the Storage Room Keys everywhere they could be used.

-All of the possible doors in the basement level (I run around down there before obtaining the luminol)

-3rd floor, room B in the apartment building (which leads to that room with the chains & padlocks, any hints about that room too?).

Was there someplace more? If not, then I assume they don't discard (bug).

Thanks for the replies!

Wow, I didn't even realized that the Storage Room Keys can be used on the apartment. Is that the room which mentioned on the night shift?

And I think there may be one more door to use, since it have three keys on it...

I thinks it's just a SH4 easter egg.

I checked the all the shift reports again but I'm still unsure, which you mean.

I figured the same about the number of keys:
1 key for all of the doors in the basement
1 key for that apartment door which leads to the chained door
1 key for ?

But I tried them everywhere possible. Either way, will keep looking. It really bugs me finishing the episode each time having those keys still, lol.

That makes sense, devs have mentioned hidden easter eggs inspired by such games, it certainly fits a SH4 theme as well. That's a lot of effort for an egg though (design-wise), it's certainly not your typical style you would find in most games.

Whenever I see such an effort from devs, especially in a game like this(unique area, unique music, ect), I would naturally think there is something more to it. This team is pretty excellent. always looking forward to more.

Is that Heather Mason's room? I noticed she was one of the names on the letterboxes but i didn't double check which room was hers.

(Heather Mason is the protagonist of silent hill 3)

^I don't think so. It says "B2 4.B" Which I suppose is Building 2, 4th floor, room B (The chained door is on a 3rd floor, room B). Room B on the 4th floor of each building doesn't seem suspicious nor does any key work on them. However, see my theory below!

About the storage room keys? Nope. Each time I've beaten episode 2 (at least 6 times now) I've left with the keys in my hand still.

I have one theory:

There is apparently a scare event in erica's apartment, in which you're made to look through the frontdoor keyhole, watching a wheelchair come down the stairs (SH4 inspired scare event or easter egg, likely both).

I've yet to see this event myself, but I do know that wheelchair is on the 4th floor & blocks two doors from being inspected (rooms C & D). It's possible after the wheelchair comes down something happens up there or we can then use the keys on those doors. https://i.imgur.com/fjq816d.jpg

I think the room is mentioned on this one (though I mistook it being a "night shift report", it's "day shift report")

By the way, anyone have clue about where the "doorman's desk" is?

I think the doorman's desk is exactly where you picked up that note but I've never found a package.

Some places I can think about:

1. One door at the first floor of flat 2, which is blocked by a... bicycle?

2. The big door in the end of the elevator corridor, next to the two mailboxes.

3. The elevator itself.

4. The weird hole in the back of one painting in the exhibition room, after triggered one random paranormal activity.

By the way, any chance some blocked door will opened up after you get the crowbar? And have you ever seen the map being filled up? Or if you can retake the keys after storage room chase?

Hmmm, I'm doubtful but of course unsure if anything more can be done. Some thoughts about your list.

1, Devs need to just let us get on that bike & ride the hell out of there. Serious note, perhaps an event moves that bike like what I've heard with the wheelchair

2. I believe that is a public entrance/exit of the map itself

3. I always push that elevator button instantly when first entering that area, but on any further runs I'll hold off till later on.

4. Do you have a picture of this? Can't say I've seen this event or the after effect to said painting.

-About the crowbar, I doubt it can be used anywhere else. After receiving it all doors become inaccessible & can't be inspected (other than those that lead directly to mr. farbers room.)

-I'm not sure what you mean by the map being filled up but I also haven't used it at all in my recent runs (though I was using it when first learning the map & later exploring these mysteries).

-After the chase, the keys are still in the inventory but the entire map (other than the route to farbers room) becomes completely inaccessible.

Everything has been explored to death. I'm leaning more & more into the possibility that the after effect of a scare event has some kind of influence. I wandered around erica's apartment (using etienne) for an hour trying to induce the wheelchair event but no luck.

Well, at least it's not Block 4, 4C. I managed to glitch the game to use the storage keys on that door, not working.

And now I'm stuck on the wheel chair forever 😭

Here is an example of what I mean about "fill up the map":

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1916326883

You can see that there is a grey outline which represent the un-explore area, and I think most of the grey area should be filled up after player completely explore the whole map, except for certain instant kill spot.

Update: forget about the instant kill spot thing, the outline of the un-explore area is shared across different floor, so the map should be filled up after you fully explored the first floor.

By the way, I think if we using certain key item in the wrong order? Cause I found that the Crank handle for opening the Exhibition room can be used on locked door. Maybe some door in the Block 2 can be unlocked with that thing?
