Game does not launch - Intel 10th gen CPU or newer
Dear horror fans,

Some of you have been experiencing an issue in which your game isn't launching, and thus you're not able to enjoy Song of Horror. This is likely due to a glitch in Intel processors from the 10th or 11th generation (or higher). To fix this and be able to play Song of Horror, please follow this steps:

  • Press WinKey+R to open Run window. In it paste: SystemPropertiesAdvanced And press okay.
  • Next click on Environment Variables...
  • In the lower frame, System Variables, press New:
  • And in the fields, paste these values:
    Variable Name:
    OPENSSL_ia32cap

    Variable value:
    ~0x20000000

Press Ok and close the Environment Variables window. Restart the computer. Try to run the game now.

Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience!

I have an 8086k cpu. 10th gen is 10,000 series, which I do not have. I am unable to launch. I play Play on the GoG launcher and it looks like it wants to start for a fraction of a second, then highlights Play again. Nothing happens.

I don't want to try a 10th gen fix and potentially ruin something.

Why not just try it? Delete it if it doesn't work.

I don't have "Environmental Variables" as an option, so I'm not sure what to do.

Followed instructions, restarted. Intel 12th Gen Windows 11, still does not work. Any other solution?

EDIT: It was my error. I pressed New in the upper frame.

Thanks for posting this, Made me realize it must be on my end. And figured out the mistake. I was entering the new information into the top frame, not the bottom one.

Doesn't even say what it does to my system. Not a chance in hell. Just going to avoid all games from this garbage developer going forward.

and: The above workaround is not required if you are using GOG GALAXY 2.0.43 or later.

P.S.: I don't think it's a developer issue. Because Apart from this game, some other games didn't work for me either. After the fix everything started working fine.
