The Door on H.P. Lovecraft Difficulty
I'm looking for tips and tricks on The Door on maximum difficulty since I have died 5 times to it already on chapter 4 and when that event triggers it seems to be a death sentence no matter what I approach I take:

Mash slam? Die.
Try to take a balanced approach and slam the door when it starts to open too much, while charging your slam as much as it seems reasonable? Die.
Make sure to charge your slams as much as possible no matter what? Die.

I have investigated and the general consensus seems to be that spamming is bad and charging your slams is good (makes sense), but like I have said I've tried all approaches and I still get sent to Brazil each time. As of yet I haven't survived a single Door in chapter 4.

I'm always playing as Daniel in order to get an achievement, so having a really low strength stat doesn't seem to be the issue either (and even if it were, weak characters are supposed to survive the Door too... just having a harder time).

This is my second playthrough, and I have also survived the Door on chapters 1 to 3 in H.P. Lovecraft without issue, so what's going on now? Is this a bug? Does the game pull a difficulty spike on you because this are the later chapters? The rest of the QTE sequences seem to be the same difficulty as the rest of the chapters, though...

It's funny because I'm doing the same thing that has always worked and suddenly it stops working for no apparent reason; I've had no issue with The Door until now, no matter what character I was playing as or the difficulty. On the longest chapter, too... how fun.

QTEs get harder every episode. I really don't recommend mash slamming- It may work with Alexander, but still. A method I use, is not focusing on the door, but looking at the buttons. When you charge your shove, you'll see the slam button (A button/Space key) quickly light up at certain points. It's sort of like a pointer on when to slam the door, and it's very useful as well (Though you should also rely on your own instincts, especially when the door suddenly opens and the charge meter spikes up very fast) With this method, I was able to complete door QTEs with Erica on Episode 4.

The slam button lights up at certain points? Wow, first time I hear about this.

I focus on how much I have charged the slam and how much the Door is opening (number of hands sticking out), but it's clear by now that alone will not work this time, even with well charged slams I get overwhelmed every time.

Knowing that you were able to do it with Erica is pretty comforting. When I encounter another Door I will try your method :zagpls:

Thank you for your assistance and kudos for noticing such a detail while doing something as frantic as closing a Door, lol.

No problem, and thank you! Let me know if it works alright for you! If not, I can give other tips, or I can send a video to you (via discord if you have it) on what to do and what not to do during the event

Ok, so funnily enough, after writing this I have been able to go through all of chapter 4 and even 5 without a single Door encounter :zaglol:

That's RNG for you, I guess. Works for me!

I still have some achievements left so i'll probably end up facing a Door sooner or later, though. I'll let you know how it goes.

It's been an amazingly long time without Doors but while replaying chapter 3 I got one as Grace and I was able to test your method: it worked like a charm!

So, once again, thank you for your tip!
