Sophie's scented candles - Either prevents paranormal activities from happening in the room that the candle is in or it just calms down Sophie when she's in the room (Still unsure as I have not played her)
Alexander's hip flask - Instantly calms down Alexander if he's nervous (Can't say for sure as well as I have not played him as well)
Alina's walkie talkie - Let's you know in advance if the presence is lurking behind a door in the room or if the presence will appear soon.
Erica's cassette tape player - Makes the hide and seek/heartbeat minigame much easier to overcome.
Rene's gun - Prevents an instant-death scenario in episode 2, other than that it's completely useless.
Daniel's badge - I actually don't know what this one does
But again, could just be a rare event I've coincidentally only gotten as Daniel.
Do wonder what Coltar's Wisdom Tooth does though.
I did a full no-death playthrough as Rene and had this happen to me. So it's not Daniel exclusive.
Yes! That was the scariest thing i saw in this game so far!
Can confirm that Alexander's hip flask calmed the character down immediately after player manually use that item. Though it's one time only item and I didn't know if you can refill the flask, so I basically not using it anyway.
By the way, Alexander will refuse to use the flask if he is still very calm.
He is a Russian... there are no problems when it comes to drinking vodka. LOL
But, I do noticed that I only get attacked once during the playthrough, and the place I being attacked is not where I placed the scented candles (the three places I put them are "the corridor in front of the front door", "corridor in front of the stair case", and "the room where Daniel entered the impossible door"). So I guess this item prevent dangerous event from happening when you stay in the room/section where the scented candles being placed. If that's true then it's really a good item to utilize (like placed it in the places where the character need to pass by multiple times during the playthrough, or places far from the hiding spot).
I will keep testing my theory in episode two.
We need more games like this!
*He'll probably still lurk around the level forever until you restart or complete it though
I have tested it.. if you hear Rene crying, that means he is in the room. What you have to do is simply just leave the room and then come back and he will disapear. :)
Just realized that Etienne's folder will take effect on the map when player entered a new area and have not picked up the key items in there.
Like following map (noticing the magnifier icon):

Funny thing about this is that it even works when player didn't walk near the key item.
All we can say about Daniel's personal item is that it's related to characters' life and death. We're sure you'll figure it out! ;)
