Glitches and Gameplay Problems (Devs Please Look)
This is an unofficial bug report thread for posting glitches and gameplay frustrations/feedback so we can help the developers make this the best game it can be (if they look at the thread), because so far it has some really good elements and effective scares. It would be a terrible shame to see such potential dragged down by bugs and gameplay issues.

1: Subtitles do not always match what the character says. Sometimes the phrasing is totally different, or they will say a different word than what is displayed.

2: Language for controls in Chapter 2 is wrong when English is picked. This happens when examining items. I was playing as Erica when this happened.

3: Character-calming items: How do they work? I know that Sophie's candles are usable, but some of these are not, like Ettiene's personal notes, or Erica's headphones. How do we use them, can we use them, and can we tell if they are doing anything?

4: Back of the fortune paper has weird text: In Chapter 2, the back of the fortune paper has what looks like some of the front text but stretched and distorted. Texture glitch? It's minor, but I thought I should mention it.

5: Hiding minigame is very bad: My biggest beef with the gameplay is hiding when the darkness comes. That heartbeat minigame has killed some of my otherwise perfect playthroughs, and it is not fun but frustrating. The tutorial says nothing about the white flash over the heart. Is that a good thing? Is that when we press the triggers? Does it register when the triggers are pressed all the way or only slightly? Feedback is the biggest problem, since I do not know if I am doing it right. I think I am when I press the triggers with the white flash, but then the scary arms come and scare the character, and we will do this over and over for like 5 minutes and go nowhere until either I win or die. It feels slightly like chance, and this needs to be changed because it is maddeningly frustrating. And what is the deal with "Don't look at it"? Is the R stick involved in this minigame, too? Do I have to avert my character's eyes? I've tried, but it didn't work. Sure, this minigame is effective in skyrocketing my anxiety, but it does so through what I think is unfair gameplay with unclear feedback. It lasts too long, too. It should never take over 1-2 minutes, but it does, and the horror wears out quickly. Contrast this with the effective door-wrestling minigame. That one works! That one feels like a successfully scary struggle, has decent feedback, and does not overstay its welcome.

Hi!

Thanks for creating this thread, it's very useful :)

1: Subtitles do not always match what the character says. Sometimes the phrasing is totally different, or they will say a different word than what is displayed.
-We're fixing that. It probably will be included in the first patch.

2: Language for controls in Chapter 2 is wrong when English is picked. This happens when examining items. I was playing as Erica when this happened.
-We're fixing that as well.

3: Character-calming items: How do they work? I know that Sophie's candles are usable, but some of these are not, like Ettiene's personal notes, or Erica's headphones. How do we use them, can we use them, and can we tell if they are doing anything?
-Some personal items are passive. It's indicated if you examine them. For example, Etienne's personal notes will help you with hiding places, interactable objects... They'll be pointed on the map. Erica's headphones help her in encounters (affects to her serenity).

4: Back of the fortune paper has weird text: In Chapter 2, the back of the fortune paper has what looks like some of the front text but stretched and distorted. Texture glitch? It's minor, but I thought I should mention it.
-That's intentional.

-The minigame lasts too long if you fail some heartbeats. We'll take a look at the tutorial in order to improve the instructions.
About the: "don't look at it", it's a joke, it's not relevant to the encounter.

Thanks for reporting!

Well, I'll just put this here and it contains spoilers for chapter 2!

About chapter 2, after the key puzzle in Erica's apartment.
I've actually watched a streamer some minutes ago. He was done with the key puzzle with the cop (René?) and wanted to leave the apartment.
When he enters the corridor suddenly one of the monsters (that with holding your breath and standing still)... well "appears". But I guess it actually was on the other side of the map in the antique shop since the camera zoomed all over from there to the apartment entrance where the cop was standing. The streamer tried to do the normal way when that monster appears but it was more or less endless since the monster wasn't even really there. He left the game with Alt+F4.

As the streamer restarts the game the cop is actually dead now so he chooses Daniel, his last character for this chapter. He goes through a hallway and wants to pick up the left behind items from the cop infront of Erica's aparment (I guess they were there but I'm not sure because of that weird bug before) but he doesn't even get there since suddenly the cop appears and kills Daniel then himself.

So I'm sure the first one was a bad and strange bug but is the thing after restarting the game intentional or a bug too? Everything was really weird to see and I hope that others won't run into the same thing.
Edit: Nevermind about the second part. Read it's actually intentional so it's only the first thing which was a bug.

Serious performance issues

AMD A10 7850K
16GB RAM
Sapphire RX470 Nitro+

I know, this is not the best rig, but I can play U4 engine gsmes and Unity games in 1080p at least in "high".

Song of Horror is strange. It stutters frequently without any cause. I tried 720p with lowest settings, same stutters. 2160p highest settings works as expected, slow framerate, but no stuttering. :(

OK, I will utilize this thread with my bug reporting.

Episode one bug:

1. Sometimes after the hear through the door tutorial triggered (after you picked up the oil and leave the room), the character will teleport back to the room you got the oil and re-entering the kitchen.

Episode two bug:

1. Character can still interact doors blocked by object (like the wheel chair) via opening the inventory and use the keys manually. After that the character will stuck on the object forever.

2. Player could triggered the silence mini game by entering the WC nearby the door to the inner flat. The monster will appeared in the room with two pillars and the character will hold their breath against a closed door.

3. If the player failed the silence mini game in the very last seconds, you can still hear the character said something like you beat the mini game, while the monster still get you. (It hilarious when monster killed the character and the screen shows "XXX didn't make it", the character still says "That's a relief")

4. The Crank for opening up the exhibition room can be used on other locked door. Originally I think it's something for other Easter eggs, but since others already trying to open doors with that without succeed, I think it's a bug.

5. When you encountered a random paranormal activity in the corridor with the elevator, which the corridor will extended more than usual, and died in there, the items will appeared in an inaccessible place and you will need to restart the episode. Though it's being reported multiple times but I think it's still worth mentioning.

Hi everyone!

Thank you very much for your feedback, we'll be checking these bugs!
Canary JOY EASY Dec 15, 2019 @ 5:28pm
Some Bugs I personal experienced in episode three:

1. The "Silence" mini game is totally broken for me, in a helpful way. The monster will try to move if the character coughed, but instead of moving closer, it will stay in the same position, hence impossible to get game over with this mini game.
Episode two doesn't have this problem, I already lost one character from failing this mini game.

2. In the second part, after I triggered the microfilm puzzle, the solving puzzle BGM will keep playing even after I exit the puzzle.

3. In second part, after the character survived The Abyss mini game, it will still murmuring something like "where did it want to take me" or "it's so cold" for a long time.

4. In second part, I bringing the Haikus in and checked the content in it, but after I reload the game the Haikus are disappeared.

5. In second part, I experienced an environmental jump scare which a cover of fluorescent lamp will falling down and break near the door to one of the microfilm puzzle rooms. Before I exit the game, the broken cover are still on the ground, but after I reload the game, the broken cover isn't there anymore. Shouldn't that be there in the rest of the part two?

By the way, any chance we got official explanation about the silence mini game? Cause I lost my character again in episode two because of this mini game, and I can't figured out what do I do wrong. Originally I think player should control the circle icon to be matched with the circle of line, and only allowed the player to move the mouse vertically (which I take a small experiment while triggered the tutorial). But even if I pay attention to these, sometimes the character still caugh without a sign. What do I missed? What counted as the "mistakes" the tutorial mentioned?

Few bugs I encountered in episode 4 (with the latest updates):

1. Some collectibles will disappeared after loading the game, currently I tried Maxwell's lucky coin and the new Tarot deck, both of them will have this kind of problem.

2. The Ornate key icon in the inventory will disappeared after loading the game.

The really only game breaking bug I ran into was in Ep.4 but has since been fixed. It was the one if you activate the last 4 key locked door with your current character before the cut scene when Daniel says he'll go in, you are unable to go through the door. Had to reload the chapter.

Other than that this game is a very fun and free of game breaking bugs for me. I also ran into the Silence monster bug in Episode 4 reported by another user in this thread but it's not game breaking so it doesn't bother me that much.

edit: One more thing, performance in Ep.4 could be better. I get full gpu utilization in the previous chapters but the gpu usage in Ep.4 I get 50 to 80% usage leading to 40 to 55fps instead of a mostly 60 I get in the other episodes. My two rigs i7 5960x GTX 1080, and the other with a RTX 2080.

More bugs to report for episode 4:

1. With my other save, the "Maxwell's lucky coin" still bugged out, even I do restart episode 4 from beginning.

2. Interaction icon error with the mirror (showing "Y" instead of "A"):

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2023319308

3. The mini game could be triggered shortly after you using the Tarot Card (flip the card over). One time I flipped "The Silence" Tarot Card and then encountered "The Abyss" shortly after doing so. I survived "The Abyss" mini game and go to the next room, then "The Silence" mini game are triggered.

I had a weird bug too. In Ep 1 I died as Sophie after putting 2 of the dolls in the dollhouse. When I loaded a new character (Etienne) it didn't remember anything I had done up till then.
Then when I tried to make a new save with Etienne and reload, it brought me back as Sophie, but stuck me in the playroom while Sophie was in the hall being attacked, so I couldn't see what I was doing. Managed to get through the door and hide and from there everything was fine.

Separate issue: Had to look up where the solvent was located. Discovered there was an entire room in the servant's quarters that is completely hidden from view on my screen. You can't see the door at all and you don't get any door icons, so there's no way I'd have known there was even a room there.

Ep 2 - I finished Ep 1 with Sophie, but she's shown as gone for Ep 2 character selection.

I have a really strange problem. I have reach to episode 4 (haven't started it yet), so I pick my character and then the games starts loading and keeps like that for forever. It doesn't crash, it just keeps loading, I have even waited more that 30 minutes and there's no way the gameplay starts. Anyone has a clue of what is going on? Is there any explanation?
Piposman May 9, 2020 @ 7:31pm
In the interlude of chapter 3, the levers dont work after Sebastian unclogged the bathroom. But reloading the save fixes the problem.

Hi everyone!

Thank you very much for your reports! We apologize for the inconveniences this might have caused to you, this information is very valuable in order to keep improving!

@Canary JOY EASY These issues should be fixed after the latest update. We'll look into this to ensure there's no further problem.

@ReflexShift Thank you very much for your kind words! We are aware Episode 4 needs optimization, so we'll work on it after the launch of Episode 5 (though we cannot provide a specific date for this improvement). We'll keep you guys updated ;)

@sweatyapple Could you please send your saved game and your build ID to support@raisergames.com so we can address these issues? Thank you very much!

@littlelittlesistersister Episode 4 requires a greater graphic load and RAM than the rest of the episodes, so that is most likely happening because you haven't enough RAM (to meet Song of Horror's minimum requirements, the 8 GB of RAM must be completely dedicated to the game). Nevertheless, if you send your Dxdiag to support@raisergames.com, we can take a better look to your PC.

@piposman Thank you very much for reporting it! We'll check it asap! 😉

Hey, been playing the game for a bit, and though I've been enjoying it, i've encountered problems that have dampened my appreciation for it.
Firstly, after my first death with Alexander quite far into Chapter 1, I load the game with Etienne this time and I'm stuck outside the house, with the front door jammed, can't do anything, I wander like an idiot for a bit before I find a response online from you guys saying that I should simply start the game from scratch. Oh great, I guess I'll just do that. So I did. This happened yesterday.
Today, I manage to progress farther, open the big bad door in the smoking room, go downstairs, all the way to the end of the spooky corridor with the hanged bodies, I approach the door and... nothing? Like, nothing, I can't do anything, can't interact with the door, nothing. I find a YouTube vid of a playthrough and the guy just casually walks up to the door and presses E to open it, which I absolutely can't do.
So here I am, kinda pissed ngl, and also sad because the game really has some good moments and the scares have been great, but I can't play a game where I have to start from the beginning every 3 hours.
Props to the dev team for the atmosphere, the riddles and everything but damn I wish I could be refunded.
