Temple of Evil - Vendors/Items
You know, sometimes life throws you an unexpected little bonus.

As a longtime D&D player, I've played almost all the classic modules, EXCEPT The Temple of Elemental Evil. When I asked my buddy to run it for me, he pointed out it takes a LONG time to complete and it would take months of the weekly game.

So to get the experience, I tried running the game version that came out around 15 years ago, but it just doesnt run very well, on any of the emulators.

And then I find Temple of Evil.... maybe not the 100% authentic way to experience the story, but dang it, close enough!

Anyway, I'm not that far in, and the old school CRPGer in me is collecting all the flotsam and jetsam and going back to the town vendors to sell them all off.

But I'm wondering if this is worthwhile....

Is there any point to collecting money in Temple of Evil? The vendors in town have the basic gear and nothing special. And unless I'm mistaken, the Solasta engine never restocks the vendors.

Honestly, in the Solasta I've played so far (Crown and Valley), it seems like the best items are either found or crafted anyway.

But speaking of which, I'm wondering if there's ever going to be a place to stash my crafting materials in a handy place? Right now I'm just using the chest in the guard tower.

Oh and also -- is there any point to rations? Looks like there is no overland travel, so are rations just taking up space? Or do you consume them during long rests?

Yes, they are consumed during long rests.

You also have the option to turn off the rations requirement in the game settings.

You will get access to a new merchant later provided you complete the side quests.

Temple of elemental evil game by Troika is very buggy in vanilla. There is a mod called Circle of the eight or Co8 that makes the game playable. Sure, you will still get during the playthrough some game "freeze", but nothing too bad if you save often.

Yeah Co8 is a complete game changer for ToEE. Also, consider using Temple+ on top of that for more options.

With those 2 mods, it goes from being nearly unplayable to being extremely good. And all it took was like 11 years of effort from the mod community, lol.

Honestly, I think that's a better way to experience ToEE over the user-made campaign in Solasta. Not to take away from the effort put into it, but it doesn't really translate to 5e so well.
