Lack of exciting loot making the game a bit dull
Friend and i played the main story and started on LV. It was fun enough but something felt off and i think we figured out what it is.

The loot in this game is garbage. It doesn't feel rewarding to clear an area or kill a boss when all you get out of it is normal loot that's worse than the normal gear you're already wearing.
I discover a hidden chest and have to go to extreme steps to get to it. I pick the lock and get... 3 arrows.

Come on man.

I get that most gear is supposed to be crafted, or bought from a vendor via faction grind, but that's just not that fun.
I want exploring and fighting to be more than just checking a box on the quest log, or a faction grind.

Is there a mod that increases the quality of random loot drops?

CE2 you can edit the random loot table. Mainly adding items that vendors have.

Just remember your save will get pinned to that version of the game and CE2 so you cannot update your game or you loose your save. In most cases.

no, there are virtually no mods to the game at all. The CE 2 mod, which will be outdated in about 5 weeks, but will be updated shortly after the TA update; is just about the only true mod out there for Solasta. 99% of what is there, from the DM, dont modify anything at all. They are separate stand alone adventures.

The game could absolutely use more options and variety, but personally I keep coming back to Solasta after trying other games that have much better graphics and more options. Why? I find Solasta to be the closest thing to D&D pen & paper.

And that's exactly why there aren't super shiny magic items all over the place. It's just the way D&D 5e is built.

Yeah for that you need my player created 1st Edition module translations on the Workshop.

They are obviously incredibly popular with people. Many say they are closer to the essence of D&D than even the main campaign. So if you find something lacking, give the Player Made modules a try... you might find something you were looking for.

I am not complaining... I love Solasta. I would just like to see things like more voice choices, a more powerful/flexible dungeon creator, etc.

I was just noting that the reason there is a lack of big flashy magic stuff is because Solasta is very close to the D&D 5e rules which are designed around not needing that stuff.

In other words, I was building off your comment and not criticizing it.

I understand that this isn't an MMO or an ARPG where big flashy gear drops like candy. I don't want it to really.
What i'm saying is that running the entire campaign without getting only minor upgrades from loot is boring. There's no sense of antici... pation!
You kill a boss and if your lucky, you might get something that has one more AC on it.

What i'd like would be a mod that takes the loot tables of the faction vendors and gives mobs a random % chance to drop them, or something like that.

We finished COTM is damn near the same gear that we started with. Hell, i think most of our chars still had empty gear slots. As i said, this isn't and MMO... i shouldn't have to grind faction to get gear.

It's also not a high level campaign, where fancy gear is necessary. I've played table top, and CotM is REAL close to a table top experience, where we were a year real time into the game, and +2 whatever, was the highest we had. This in the old AD&D days.

The Shiny loot is the loot you make from a Primed Item and a Fancy rock/skull/pile of ooze

I personally like the characters being defined by their innate skills rather than by their gear, which is what happens in many games.

I totally get what you are saying. I'm mainly talking about character customization choices (like voice options), more variety in monsters and other encounters, etc. As for magic items, I'm fine with +3 being the max at 10-12. Whenever magic items get out of control it adversely affects balance.

Except in the "Monty Haul" campaigns that usually ended up in party members killing each other for loot (around 2 AM real time). LOL

Sounds like a problem with 5e in general, not just this game

Nah there's a crazy amount of magical items in 5e, as you can see here:
