Lost Valley is weird
Not really enjoying the Lost Valley so far, and I think I'm like 60% through. I just got to the forced quest to rescue some rebel from a fight in the middle city - no way to avoid the quest, no way to avoid the fight... Just suddenly boom - your decision about which path you'd like to take and which faction you want to assist made for you. I've rolled back to a previous save to try and figure out alternatives, but man that's just some ugly railroad storytelling.

Other problems I've had so far - I haven't been able to craft anything but an accuracy weapon. Either I can't find a recipe for something I have ingredients for, or I can't find ingredients for something I have the recipes for. All I can craft is potions and poisons. My team is level 8 already and still can't find any recipes/ingredient combos for any interesting items.

I'm still annoyed with Crown of the Magister for faction locking so many things - was never able to buy a primed plate before finishing the game. What the heck is the point of some of these crafting options when you simply cannot get to them unless you know from the beginning of the game to ignore every faction but X...

The game is fun. I like the battle management and the character building and (overall) the story elements. But man so much of the game seems to be "keep preparing for this awesome thing that you'll be able to do at a higher level" then ends before you can ever do the thing.

I dunno why, but I just cant get into the LV campaign. It leaves me feeling "empty" and I just dont care to keep playing it. Few DnD campaigns have ever left me flat, but LV does.

It does start out really slow with alot of go here, do this type of tasks. But it does pick up around the mid game.

The secret complex and underground city are honestly some of the best dungeons ever made for this game, but they are pretty deep into the campaign before you can gain access to them.

You gotta suffer through the doldrums at the beginning to get to the good stuff.

I don't mind the grab-and-carry quests. I mean that's the bread and butter of this genre, especially at low levels, but I'm getting REALLY tired of "go talk to so and so" then all of sudden, just from having a conversation you suddenly blow up your reputation with a different faction without having an opportunity to finish any of the quests you had half finished. There's no warning flag on any of these quests that they're a No Going Back moment.

Once you rescue the prisoner, you can never visit the city again unless you're sure your done with the Dominion forever. Once you talk to the dude in the Swamp, suddenly the Rebellion hates you.

There's no logic or warning to any of it. No indication that you're about to piss off another group, nor in fact any sensible reason why the other group would even know that you did the thing. Why would the Rebellion suddenly hate me for talking to the Forge dude in the swamp? How did they even know?

It's all extremely random and undirected. You don't ever actually MAKE a choice. I was trying to stay neutral and work with all factions until I learned enough about them to make a choice. Nope. Just this random quest made the choice for you without any indication.

Very frustrating "storyline."

I found LV too easy, i had an insane party and cleared secret facility without any of my chars going down, somewhat i expected a final fight like in SOLASTA main campaign, but it didnt happen. I spent several nights at the inn crafting 4 items to fight Orenetis, but my diplomat had a 95% chance of persuading him to join with Sitinero so there was not any fight. And i was only level 10.

I personally enjoyed the alternate ending option for LV. My buddy and I fought our way out through those damned beetles and managed to keep the rogue hireling alive through the whole campaign haha… the politics were a little nuts in that valley.
