Bless and Spiritual Weapon
Bless should grant its bonus to SW but it does not. Is this a bug or a feature?

Is Spiritual Weapon considered a creature? I would think not, Bless would only work on creatures.

Spiritual Weapon is not a creature so cannot be the target of a Bless spell. That said, I can see how one could argue that the melee spell attack of a SW should be affected by Bless.

Directed to OP...why do you think SW should benefit from BLESS?

As defined by the DnD 5.1 SRD (pg 122)

Bless
1st-level enchantment
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M (a sprinkling of holy water)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
You bless up to three creatures of your choice within range. Whenever a target makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw...

Key words...4th and 5th...three CREATURES

I haven't checked logs, but the Spiritual Weapon is also affected if the caster of the Spiritual Weapon is blessed?

https://www.reddit.com/r/DMAcademy/comments/c2yiwc/bless_spiritual_weapon/
> Spiritual weapon states "When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon". Bless states "whenever a target makes an attack roll or saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw."

> RAW: this means a blessed caster (target) with an active spiritual weapon would use spell attack + d4 (bless), correct?

> It definitely should! Otherwise the wording would have verbiage along the lines of "when the Blessed target makes a weapon attack, they add 1d4 to the attack roll."
>
> Since it just says "attack roll" it doesnt matter if it's a weapon or spell attack, including the spiritual weapon spell attack

A blessed caster should have bonus when attack with spiritual weapon:

SPIRITUAL WEAPON:
When YOU cast the spell, YOU can make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon.

BLESS:
You bless up to three creatures of your choice within range. Whenever a target makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw.
