But all the really good ones like belt of giants strength needs to be bought by the different factions in the base campaign. I believe the snow nation or whatever they are called has most of the good ones. Then the circle of danatar I believe have the magic armours and weapons like the +1 and 2 ♥♥♥♥.
Plus 5e especially has gone further away from magical items, bringing in attunement and reducing the amount of them in general. It got too cluttered with number crunching and completely op invincible characters with the magic items.
For a game that's not loot-centric, there certainly is a lot of loot to deal with though, and the loot not being very interesting most of the time makes it worse than if there were no loot at all. It's just a trap for people suffering from OCDs, or a joy for those who enjoy roleplaying a scrap dealer. ;P
There's a system in the game that means you don't have to loot ♥♥♥♥, the scavengers will do that for you and you can pick and choose the loot you wanna keep, while they automatically sell the rest
Still a lot of junk to sift through. It's a solution for a problem that the game created itself.
Of course, more choices are always welcome. I also appreciate that they allow you to more or less disable all the tedious micro-managing systems they created. ;)
Misc magic items in that campaign are usually randomly chosen from the following list (rolled when entering the map or killing the mob):
Boots of Levitation
Winged Boots
Boots of the Winterlands
Boots of Striding and Sprinting
Boots of Elvenkind
Gauntlets of Ogre Power
Gloves of Missile Snaring
Bracers of Sparkles
Bracers of Archery
Bracers of Defense
Belt of Giant Strength (Hill)
Belt of Dwarvenkind
Ring of All Words
Ring of Protection
Ring of Fire Resistance
Ring of Cold Resistance
Ring of Poison Resistance
Ring of Necrotic Resistance
Ring of Feather Falling
Ring of Darkvision
Ring of the Lightbringers
Circlet of Blasting
Helm of Comprehending Languages
Headband of Intellect
Amulet of Health
Periapt of Health
Periapt Proof vs Poison
Stone of Good Luck
Brooch of Shielding
Gem of Seeing
Cloak of Displacement
Cloak of Elvenkind
Handy Haversack
Bag of Holding
Endless Quiver of Colthannin
(Cloak of Displacement is by far the best possible drop.)
I believe the hard to reach chest in Manacalon Ruins (possibly some other chests) add the following to the list:
Cloak of Protection
Cloak of Arachnidia
Slippers of Spider Climbing
Wand of Magic Detection
Wand of Magic Missiles
Ring of Regeneration
(possibly Chime of Opening?)
Lots of mobs have a low% chance to drop potions, poisons, and/or scrolls.
(Some mobs always have special ammo and a few always have a scroll.)
Adam the Twelfth drops +1 armor if you kill him.
The +2 armor list has wizard robes in it (AC14 & AC13, don't need to attune for the AC).
Arcane Shieldstaff & Cog of Cohh are in secret rooms in the Volcano.
But the best items are either crafted or parts of quests or from faction shops.
(aside from Cloak of Displacement)
