Explore ruined tower. Cant complete and cant get out. Game over?

So early mission "Explore ruined tower" I made it to the library and it seems i have to get to the 4 thingamebobs to activate the door. currently I cant reach any of them as all my characters get "path blocked". I assume I need levitate or some such spells. I think I do have a levitate spell but I need a long rest to allocate it.
I travelled back to the camp outside the tower which is indicated as a long rest spot on the map but I cant rest there. I read somewhere it does not become a long rest location until mission is complete. So, as far as I can see I cant travel to any towns or anywhere I can get a long rest. So, I cant complete the mission and I cant return. Is it game over?

I cant recall exactly but a green box opens up in the back, to let you out IIRC. It's been a couple years so...

You need to push blocks to open some paths.

I don't think you need levitate or fly for any of the main quest content.

you dont...I think OP is referring to the Master quest...where the tower lies sideways at Caer Lem.

Nope.. OP is referring to main quest huge library with statues and the 4 points mentioned that must be activated to proceed past the room. The one with a number of blocks that the player needs to move to progress.

As Soteria stated: you don't need Fly, Levitate, nor Misty Step to pass this room, as none of those abilities/spells are required for the main story line.

I am stuck on the lower platform after pushing the stone into place. I have no ability to go back the way I came as shown in the video. It seems obvious, but the game will not let me climb up the ladders I came down. I am ready to just trash the game over this problem. It has happened with three different parties. I love the game mechanics, but this is a complete game wrecker for me

The game works fine. I have never heard of what you described with ladders getting borked. There is some strange geometry in that library that can get confusing. Have you tried to click the path ahead or behind, further forward or back, and at different elevations? Have you tried restarting the game as Underhook did?

If this has occurred with multiple parties it does not sound like a corrupted save file issue.

There are a number of rocks in that location that can be pushed. Can you post a screen shot showing your location so we can see where you are stuck?

It's either F11 or F12 when in game via STEAM, takes a screenshot. (Sorry, forget atm)

OK, once that is done, when you exit the game, across the top is a menu option VIEW

Click VIEW and at the bottom it says RECORDINGS and SCREENSHOTS..click it

ALL your screen shots are there. Click on the one you want. In the bottom RIGHT corner

It says..SHARE click that

Now click COPY TO CLIPBOARD

Now you can go to the appropriate forum for that game, CTRL-V and paste that link into the discussion, posting your screenshot

Have you pushed both of the stone blocks that are right there (they float up when you do)? Have you clicked at the entrance to the room (or near there) to try to move the party there? Have you attempted to move to another elevation near you that should be accessible (no, do not click the ladders).

Another thought: Are your characters strong enough to climb?

I was having the exact same problem in the exact same space. What I discovered is that my party can climb out of the lower platform, but for some reason the nearby spots that I naturally clicked on were showing as inaccessible. When I clicked further away on the path I came in by, the party was able to move with no problem.

I have a theory, based on some clicking around and experimenting is that it's a bug with the elevations. When clicking on an upper platform that's too close to where the party is located on the lower platform, the game thinks that you're clicking on the empty air at the same level as the party is located. But when I clicked far enough away from any lower platforms, it registered correctly and once the party climbed up I could come back and click on the spot I originally wanted to.
