Anyone play Dungeons of Naheulbeuk for comparision?
I just loves this little gem of a game and one of my favs of the last 5 years. it's quirky campy story and the mechanics that are not dnd, but they are very familiar with parry, dodge and crits playing a big part. I'm old school dnd, and if i was to play a game i'd play the original, verse any of the later iterations but in some ways the newer stuff seams to work in the crpg world. I also like to take chances on Indy devs, and this one just might work for me. I have yet to play BG3 or divinity, but i loved wasteland 2, banner saga and a few other turn based RPG's others like say druidstone or wyldermyth which just didn't do it for me for what ever reason. I've had my eyes on this one and thought i needed a bit more info

Are there lots of NPC choices to join you? Does the party make up really change how you play or effect the story? (DoN, you have a set party, so out side of one character it's the same)

Do you create just your main character or are there others, that was unclear.

DLC, Sometimes the steam stores lock you out of bundles, or don't count your purchases if you buy the base game do you get locked out of packages? Also how is the DLC over all? is it more stories tacked on or does it effect the base game? Tacked on it can be better to just wait and see if the game clicks with you.

I read something about a tool set or sorts, how powerful is it? is it like dragon age origins or neverwinter nights depth, or something less?

Feel free to add any other thoughts about the game that might help.

You have to make your own group of 4 (or up to 6 with a mod). Or use pre-made characters, but they're not "companions" like you'd see in other cRPGs - they're no more special vs ones you could make.

If you're after old school D&D, there is a Temple of (Elemental) Evil user made campaign you might like. I believe it's supposed to have been created from the original 1985 adventure as closely as they could do. Honestly, many of us like the user made campaigns better than the main campaigns.

31 episode play through from Jul 2021

and yes, I very much enjoyed the game. The banter was comedic as it could be.

So how does the story work? Is it more like Icewind dale where you have simple talking and then a narrator?

It's a dungeon crawl with a story guided plot line. Watch 10 minutes of the video
