Wizards Can Wear Magical Leather Armor?

I'm used to the old days where they could only wear robes if they wanted to cast their spells. I put some magical studded armor on my Greenmage, and it didn't seem to affect his casting abilities at all.

Or is it the Sellword background (something like that), gives you Mdm Arm proficiency
