I dont think TA is at fault here, if i read the reddit post correctly you can play unfinished business without the new dlc, but only if you have a certain version. The problem is that i cant update the mod.
Maybe some of the modders know what to do.
If UB calls for a specific edition, and it is different from the one the saves were created with..it is because of changes made by TA. Each and every time T.A. has released DLC, and I do believe it has happened EVERY time, they broke the game. Sometimes it took a week to fix, sometimes 2, once (Jan 2023 IIRC???) it took over a month. The GAME Solasta: Crown of the Magister...is top shelf. I love it. The dev? Not at all. They have fallen SO FAR down my list, I will never buy another T.A. product. I dont care what they do, or what they sell it for. They've shown me their true colors.
in fact, that play through on YT you are referencing, I had to abandon when a TA DLC broke saves. Multiple times I have had to abandon games, when TA broke saves when I had 30-35 hours in. It gets REALLY discouraging, when you are not allowed by the dev, to finish a game.
you have raised this point over and over and over; and it has been explained to you repeatedly...I dont update the game. I have the Jan 2023 ver installed. (well...HAD. It is uninstalled now on both STEAM and GOG.)
Both were set to NOT update..
I did not ujpdate the UB mod...
the game updates anyway, and I roll it back...
USUALLY, that helps, not this time.
And the LV DLC broke character creation with or without the UB mod installed so take your attitude and shove it where the sun dont shine.
I honestly don't know why you still are on this forum with how much negativity you spew about TA.
If you rolled back to a working version then isolated it there would be no issue. Since you state that it updated you obviously didn't do that.
One of the big complaints you have is that TA a software business that is making a computer game updates that game for a price. Since you say you have not bought any DLCs this is a good indicator that TA has continued to release content and update their product for free. You just contradict your self at every turn which is why your arguments have never had any weight.
As for the free content that came with the LV DLC I never had it effect any save. Since you have this indicates it is from your choice to use the Unfinished Business mod, with that choice comes the responsibility of you to accept that there will be times when things do nor work properly. To expect TA to push out a fix for an issue you chose to make on your timetable is just silly.
Do us both a favor OK? piss off and ignore my posts from now on
I had no problem updating after POI came out but I was also on the latest release beforehand.
A co-op friend of mine freshly installed the mod after POI released- not having the DLC himself, but still being able to run the mod fine.
I've done all that. STEAM and GOG both for some unknown reason, did away with the "dont update at all" option. So now it's rollback, rollback, rollback. Usually works...this time it didnt. Of course, it didnt work after the LV release either so... Just one more reason to lament the end of physical media.
As for updating the mod....I didnt update the mod. It was the previous edition, which SHOULD have worked with a rolled back version of CotM but...it didnt. Updating the mod, is gonna call for the updated version of Crown. Which defeats entirely, trying to avoid the updates in the 1st place. And when the updates break your existing saves...
Thanks, i will try that
Are you really going to claim that those games you mentioned where never broken by an update while you where using mods? If you are claiming that was the case you are either extremely lucky or you played them long after updates actually stopped occurring.
As for someone doing a favor do the whole forum a favor and piss off! Go play the wonderful games you always claim have had no issues during their development or even after with mod conflicts.
