Most AoE spells don't differentiate between friend or foe, if not stated otherwise and usually affects all creatures. Dreadful Omen would be an example, that it affects only enemies....
Got 3 Feral Dragon encounter while traveling to Telema....but Hold Monster is an amazing spell :) And my Bard can do a lot of disabling shenanigans as well...was situational in CotM, but now it really shines.
