That being said, I myself found smithing to be totally useless in this game with some minor exceptions, so I wouldn't go out of my way to smith something.
So, a new game it is.
On the other hand, crafting them is quite difficult because you would need a lot of ingredients and it's a chore to get them all. You can only craft at most 5 at a time and it takes several hours to do that. Plus many of the ingredients are limited and you just won't be able to craft many.
However, crafting can be useful to get some items you won't find in shops or as drops (again, depending on campaign), so its always good to have on at least one character.
But as said, there is no feat to get (unless they just added in the latest DLC?), so might be worth restarting.
Manacalon Rosary proficiency is what you need for good crafting.
Arrows and bolts will drop in plentiful numbers. Smithing, is an entirely unnecessary skill in Solasta
