There are some limitations:
* All gold is distributed evenly (each character receives 1/4 of the party gold)
* Recipes are not preserved
* Bestiary entries are not preserved
* Some custom items (from fan-created content) may not be preserved
There may also be a feature in the "Unfinished Business" mod to export characters but I do not use it so I cannot comment on that.

(I would love to have a import/export character system in Solasta like we had in Neverwinter Nights.)

( The non-DLC version and DLC version have over 3K subscribers. It is also available on Nexus.)
Just to state the boring part again :
Characters in a main campaign save (Crown of the Magister) or in a DLC save (such as Lost Valley) cannot enter a Dungeon Maker map, and therefore cannot be prepared or tweaked before the Palace of Ice new campaign.
You can though send any character that is visible in the main menu to a Dungeon Maker map. Since Your Headquarters is designed to be an immersive place to sell loot and buy new gear after Dungeon Maker adventures, it does not offer free magical items though (what is free are level 1 recipes, non-magical armor and weapons, tools).
