NPC companions, however, die instantly (no Death Saves) when they reach 0hp and they cannot be revived.
Thank you DiceWrangler
If you try to understand The Division by comparing it to Halo, or the other way around, then you're just going to confuse yourself without ever learning anything useful. Just like you shouldn't try understanding the mechanics of Civilization by comparing it to Europa Universalis. or understand Magic the Gathering by comparing it to Slay the Spire.
Apparently you didn't understand the key point of the question, the way it was worded or the fact it has already been answered perfectly.
Companions (NPCs) die immediately upon dropping to 0hp -- just like a monster -- so there is no chance for a heal, stabilization or Revivify.
In some instances, required companions will have an small flag (an exclamation point?) indicating that if they die the game is instantly over so you need to be careful with them. The first companions that you can acquire in the "Lost Valley", however, are not required so if they die it is NBD (No Big Deal).
