Hmm I don't really think there was any big drama where modders left en masse, it's more like there isn't a lot of modders to begin with. From what I picked up on discord, more things would be possible in terms of mods but no one has the expertise required (or understandably takes too much time/effort). The game was a small scale project, a small single player rpg one shot of sorts, but it grew up with multiplayer and dungeon maker especially. Still, it wasn't especially made with mods in mind, so some parts are likely tricky to change. I believe the idea of grouping up also comes from that, to make it easier for a newcomer to mod a new subclass for instance without having to redo the groundwork. I also expect some passionate people to want to spend time on making or playing campaigns over mods.
Also a bit unrelated but should also be noted that it's likely the mod will break with the upcoming next DLC. As far as I know, (some) modders have access to a beta of it, and can do some prep work but still expect a migration phase to be needed.
Probably your best bet there.
It works for thousands of other people, including myself.
Honestly, the Unfinished Business addon I was directed to didn't allow the changing of hair color without remaking the whole character again. That's what I'm trying to avoid. I just want to change hair color. I deleted the addon as it was useless to me.
