Will the upcoming DLC be the last?
I don't want to buy this game until all the DLC is out and the classes are complete. Have the devs said if the DLC coming in October will be the last?

What do you mean? This company has license only for SRD content. With the next DLC ( we don't know if it comes in October or later) we will have all SRD classes. I don't know about you but I voted in the previous survey for additional classes and campaign. In the end if they sell well they will continue!

Survey? What survey? You're assuming I know far more about the game's development than I do. I've never played it, which I would think should be clear from my question.

I assume what you're saying is the next DLC will complete the classes available in the "open source" version of 5e, and any additional classes (if there are any) will have to be invented from scratch by the Solasta devs.

Pretty much, yes.

Whether the next DLC will be the last is unknown. It will however complete all the base classes, if that's what you're asking.

There is also the very well made community expansion 2 mod which has the devs blessing (they seem to get access to new update material before the rest of the public) which includes much of the 5e stuff that the devs can't legally use (like official sub classes and feats and whatnot) because they aren't selling a product but making free mods.

The expansion 2 mod does not contain "official 5e stuff" - the sub-classes and feats are all home brew. Where they list "official class subclass" they intend to indicate the homebrew subclass is for an official class (as opposed to a subclass for one of the included homebrew classes). Some of the feats are close to 5e but not quite - i.e. polearm expert instead of polearm master, power attack from prior editions, etc. Solasta team has been vigorous about forbidding mods that include licensed content - moreso than any other D&D based game in my experience.

If I had to make a wager, I'd say they'd do at least one more campaign after this before moving on to a new project bare minimum.

They still have room to upgrade the Dungeon Maker too, so that gives them some avenues to work with in terms of added content.

Most of the feats in that mod are official 5e things. War caster for example is an official 5e feat, so is sentinel. The names might be slightly different, but most of the feats that are the same are only different for a practical standpoint. Like savage attacker rerolls a 1 roll on damage while in 5e you instead reroll one die of choice - which of course doesn't work in this game the way dice are rolled you can't just pick a die and reroll it.
Or power attack is again an example of the way that it has to be implemented to work in the framework of the video game.

And some of the sub classes, like arcane knight is an official 5e sub class the eldritch knight but with a different name.
