Greataxe model
am i the only one dissapointed with the Greataxe model? it looks like a toy in hands of my half-orc character :/ quite minor thing to complain about but jeez. can't help but to laugh at the tiny ax that should be a lot bigger.

That's funny to hear, because if you play Pathfinder: Wrath they have a bug where your equipment, particularly shields, will expand to three times their normal size. Of course, it looks idiotic. Like something you'd see in an Asian MMO.

Too big = no good.

Too small = no good.

The artists can't win. It has to be perfection.

Reminds me of that TV show called Forged in Fire. It's about some of the best bladesmiths in the world, making weapons. It'd be interesting to hear their opinion on your Greataxe.

Having used several types of axes in real life myself, I've always known them to be fairly small.

The vast majority of weapons in CRPGs (and RPG miniatures) are massively oversized compared to historical ones and some are completely fictional. The twin bladed axe (or labrys) was mythological and ceremonial, often pictured in the hands of deities and mythological creatures, not something seen on a battlefield. Of course that makes it an acceptable weapon for a fantasy game, but it's only undersized compared to your expectations from other fantasy games :)

considering the greataxe in Solasta is double headed any historical value is already tossed a side

edit: also bringing historical stuff to Fantasy game makes quite little sense

At least we don't have WoW-models of greataxes ^.^

That'd be a proper greataxe, but to be honest it doesn't fit a fantasy setting or RPG in general. I personally prefer the not-so-grand-design, like done in older games.

^forged in fire is rather garbage, though: more like semi-best weapon smiths of the US merging together some crap in a few hours with some nonsensical heuristic moderator encouraging them in a noisy way, similar to an anime. OOOOH---HEEE NOW HAS LIGHTEN UP THE FORGE, BUT WAYYYYY TO LATE....WILL HE GET IT DONE? The stuff they built looks crappy as well...
silly-nonsense-tv *yay*

["best weaponsmiths of the world" *sigh* .. There are only a few Katana-masters and in Germany a few true weapon-smiths left, who know how to handle proper steel. ANd using the grindstone all the time is not part of that job...]
