Just me or is this game too expensive?
Not going to lie I didn't have much interest in the game until multiplayer was added as I don't really play single player games. That said... I can't convince a single friend to buy it at the current price. Everyone just says "maybe when it goes on sale."

So I'm just sitting around holding off purchase until it goes on sale. Heh.

It was on sale within the last month I believe so you guys missed your window of opportunity

^^^ You guys just missed a big sale (US$16 on Steam) when the "Lost Valley" DLC was released; the sale ended around April 21st? I was able to convince 3 friends to buy it at the time and now we regularly play solo and co-op together.

I recommend wishlisting the game and using IsThereAnyDeal[isthereanydeal.com] to be alerted when it goes on sale again; and, no, I am not affiliated with that site in any way.

Yeah I'll have to do that.

My point still kind of stands though. $60 is a bit much if the game is now targeting a multiplayer audience. I mean that's like $240 to play a campaign.

Wouldn't be so bad if it had remote play or something you know? I personally think the upper limit of our price rage generally is around $40 per person.

I mean we could grab the base game for that, but the big appeal with the ongoing user created content, and well that seems to require the DLCs.

i'm not a MP guy but even for single player alone.. i think this game is worth every penny. Having alot of fun with it so far. And bear in mind, i have baldur's gate 3 in shelve for now.

No, user content does not require the DLCs, unless said content calls for classes frm the DLCs. Which generally, is not the case.

The base game, includes the full DM and access to user content.

The Sorc class, was added via free DLC.

The remaining class adds, Druid and Barbarian, are from pd DLC "Primal Calling"

The "Lost Valley" pd DLC, adds a new campaign.

I do not know, if multi-player requires the Lost Valley DLC or not. I dont do multi-player. ONLY the host, needs the DLC, for the DLC content to be available for that multi-player play through. So if ONE of you buys the full range, then all of you can play it together, assuming that one plays host every play through.

In a co-op game, any DLCs that the host has installed are enabled for all players. The players just need the base game.
I got it when it was on sale and am having countless fun with it till today.

Umm not that I don't trust you, but you know how the internet is :P Could you maybe link me something to this effect if it's not too much trouble? I might be able to convince them to buy it at $40 lol.

No he's tellling you the Truth... this was directly stated by the Devs and tested during the Beta so we know this to be true. ONLY the HOST needs the DLC content for the other players to play it.

Okay thanks, I actually deleted that because after I typed it I was like... well this just sounds like I'm being lazy. I'll look it up just to confirm later, just been a bit busy :P

Yet, everyone is quick to purchase an unfinished Baldur's Gate III for 80 freaking dollars.

That's is a no-go-zone for me, for a game like that.

You're better off purchasing this one, or anything else that is complete, including Larian's previous games, Wasteland III, or even the Pillars games.

I'd sooner encourage someone to play Elex II or Greedfall for some good fun, rather than messing with an overpriced Baldur's Gate.

None of the games that I mentioned cost 80 dollars. Aside from Baldur's Gate III.

Larian is ridiculous.

"What does price aggressively mean?
If you're selling, aggressive pricing means your prices would be low to encourage sales."

Btw the price of the game is withing the normal price range of games and on the cheaper side. So I fail to see how anyone find it expensive.

A lot of kids don't have jobs and have to cadge money from their parents for games.

The game is not targeting a multiplayer audience. Just because a game goes co-op does not mean that the devs are targeting multiplayer gamers. If you look at the game you can see who the devs are catering too, single players and Dungeon Masters.

This is steam, where sales are a dime a dozen and its only often a short while before Y game comes on Y sale again
