Does it make sense to put vampiric touch ring on my front line melee guy...

I just got option , at a long rest, of putting sigil ring of necromancy which casts vampiric touch on my front line melee guy, whos a non spellcaster. Does this make sense? It seems like it will tune him to the ring, so want to be sure..thank you!!

You can always move it to another character with a short rest.

Problem is it doesn't get extra attacks or attribute damage bonus so chances a Paladin or Fighter will do more damage with normal attacks. If you have a front-line cleric that may make more sense.

I did put on a front line melee but as mk11 pointed out there are much better ways to utilize your party members turn so I didn't use it much. The only time I really did use it was on a druid that I shape shifted into a bear. In that particular situations it was a way to get some hit points back to extend them in that shape. The bad thing is that if you use it as shape shifted then shift back to the druid original form all the hit points you gained from the vampiric effect are lost. Bottom line is there are better rings so I would just hold it until you maxed out with what ever faction you are focused on then sell it.
