Max level is TEN?! XDDD
Okay, seriously, are you joking? As soon as I found out that the Max Lv is 10 I just Alt+F4 the game. There is 0 motivation to go on. Basically atm at the spot where you give up the crown and I don't see any reason to continue.

A. I did not plan to play half of four characters, so the builds aren't having what I would have given them otherwise and
B. Who in the everliving f*ck thought it would be fun to play a DnD game that has no progression???

Guess why effectively every game in the genre makes it super-hard to level cap? Because then you have finished the progression and the fun things one looks forward to from leveling up. I was really eager and invested to see how the high-level spells would look like and planned strategies ahead, but instead it's what? Either 50 more quests with 0 progression or a couple story quests that let the whole thing fizzle out.

I have never been more aggressively disappointed in a game, because no game managed to make such a great comeback from awful first impressions only to then sh*t the bed with such gusto XD

Maybe dlc friend ... hopefully ...

OK, bye. The devs had made it very clear from the early Kickstarter days that the max level was going to be 10. If you never bothered to read the game description then that is your loss. Just because 10 is the max level for the "Crown of the Magister" campaign does not mean that it is the max level for all future campaigns.

Reading is a disappearing skill
This is (very) small studio that clearly communicated what it would deliver, according to their budget and experience.
After that, i might understand your disappointment, but then make a BIG donation, and you might get a DLC opening up to Lvl20in the future

yes level 10 is brutally little, a bit boring and far too short

Atleast someones complaining about something other than Gender, Politics or pronouns

Hasn't that been known for a long time? I got this game months and months ago in EA and I feel like I've always known the level cap was 10. I can kind of understand why that is in a video game. Some of the 6th and 7th level spells and abilities start to get way out of hand in a video game setting. All kinds of time and reality bending spells and effects. Imagine trying to implement some of that.

You do know most premade D&D modules go to level 10 max ya? There are some for over level 10 but those are far fewer.

And the level cap fits in perfectly with the setting of the adventure:
LEVELS 1 - 4 : LOCAL HEROES
LEVELS 5 -10 : HEROES OF THE REALM
LEVELS 11 - 16 : MASTERS OF THE REALM
LEVELS 17-20 : MASTERS OF THE WORLD

Also on a personal note, you sound like a right ass to have as a player.
Oh no my character won't go past level X!?! Screw the story with the DM and RP with my party members everything is dumb and pointless!

Yeah 10 sucks as a level cap but this was well known for a while.

Kasa those campaign modules also end relatively openly with lots of room to continue on with the aftermath of things. The only one I am aware of that really ends is Rise of Tiamat.

That starts with Hoard of the Dragonqueen which goes to level 12 or so. Oh and thats only if you use the capstone experience if you use RP and encounter XP then it goes much higher.

Now yes the devs said from day 1 that this campaign would always go to level 10 they also promised future DLCs so I am hoping that there is a DLC later on that raises the level cap much like how NWN did it

@tazman1

Fair point, I'm just surprised with the level of toxic whining Hex is displaying, especially by the time you get to level 10 the game is just about over anyways and the exp needed to get to level 11 would mean purposely walking back and fourth between towns for the sole purpose of grinding random encounters to a incredible degree.

Because it's the steam forums

You are incredibly powerful even by level 7 (which I am). This is exactly how D&D works and should continue working. Gaining a level is a BIG deal.

In other words it's not like World of Warcraft.
katzenkrimis Jun 7, 2021 @ 10:47am
It's been known as a level 10 game forever.

I haven't even entered the Dark Castle and my party is already level 5.

You don't see me complaining.

Ah, yes, the type of GM who considers +1 to be worthy only of the elite of the elite.

It's an escapist fantasy, not accounting. And nobody stopped the devs from raising the stakes. As if the protagonists weren't already the "last hope of the realm"

That master of the world thing is really wrong, friend. There's levels after 20 you know
