I like less text, how bout this game?
So, I dont really like text walls in these kinds of games. Will it have less text than say DoS? If so, that would be good for me. To much text bogs me down.

I can't think of any places where there is a ton of text to get through. There are some cutscenes that go on a bit, but if you're good at skim reading then you can spacebar through them fairly quickly. And if you don't want to read at all, they are all voiced and you'll only have to read the selection of responses your characters can choose from at the prompts.

Don't worry this is not Pillars of eternity, it's text light and a decent story.

right, pillars was bad on text, specially since i didnt even know about the player made flavor text till to late lol

I don't know about DOS1 but in 2 they also had voice overs so you didn't have to read too much. Just make the dialogue choice you wanted to reply with. It not like a text wall that pillars of eternity was.

To be fair on PoE it was just one specific writer who did that. And the others told him off. I can't remember the exact numbers but it was something like he was asked to stick to 5 pages to keep it in line with other characters and he went like 20 or something.

It was multiple times the brief that all the writers had to stick to.

You'll read more walls of text in these forums than you will in the game

Yip, this is a nice low-text game. That works well for me too. When I feel like reading a book, I read a book.

As for POE, it gives me the chills thinking that I actually read a bunch of that without knowing it was all fluff. Really wanted to like that game, but man, some of the design decisions they made were a bit unfortunate IMO. Guess if I put the right filters on I could enjoy it, but there's a whole bunch of other games still higher on my list that I want to play, starting with the full release of Solasta! (TA, please make it mostly bug free.)

POE huge fails are Pillars of text, try to balance classes in a offline game, a lot of buffs to play. I think they play WOW too much.

The game has very little relative to games like dos and especially pillars. The story so far that I've seen isn't that special but the combat is fun and the dungeons aren't bad. The role playing in this game is severely lacking though but if you know what you're in for it's a fun ride

Agreed. The games strength to me is the way they implemented combat as well.
The story is a bit a dozen for a dime, serviceable but nowhere near exceptional.

So far bits of lore are scattered around but not in any great volumes, it's more in the shape of the locations you visit and what some npc's tell you.

What I'm really interested in and surprised about was the Dungeon Maker, that is as a good as gold and will introduce a lot of replayability in this game with fan created content.

I think the most reading you do is on your character sheet but even them they have things to narrow it down

It's more of a tactics game then a traditional RPG. All conversations are voiced, they tend to be short, and conversation trees are real basic. There are some books and journals to read but nothing lenghty or substantial. The opening is slow (mostly due to unskipable tutorial) but as things starts rolling story/gameplay ration is heavily skewed toward gameplay. Worldbuilding is kept to the minimal. You know what a standard fantasy setting is, let's just go out and kill stuff.

On a side note, you dudes are silly. Pillars of Eternity is the crack. Walls of text are a boon if they are as good as they are in PoEs. :squirtyay: #thechurchofdurance

It wouldn't be a CRPG, if it didn't had any text walls. Besides, some people do like that kind of stuff, when it's well written.

Well a portion of it was well written.
My real problem with PoE wall of text was that EVERYTHING was in that wall of text, both descriptions of a characters movement, physical features, demeanour, on top of EVERYTHING else.

It would be fine if it was saved for special characters but it's done with literally everyone, on top of the huge text walls in books, lore in the menu, soul gazing ect.
I've played a lot of CRPG's and PoE was way over the top with the sheer volume of text, I'd rather just read a actual book.
