Sorcerer Vs. Wizard on D&D 5e
Hi. This is only marginally related to the game (since Sorcerer would be the last class to be added). I've wondered what's the difference between Wizards and Sorcerers on D&D 5e, All spell casters seem pretty flexible in 5e where only the sorcerer used to be on 3e. The available rule book from 2018 does not have sorcerer as a fully described class, just the Wizard. Does the sorcerer have more spell charges and less spell picks per level? Can he scribe scrolls?

I'd say it's SOP in PnP as well. At least in the form of the old Marine maxim, "Know how to kill everyone you meet".

Yes, but it's the difference between fireballing 3 trolls, killing none of them, and having the frontliners eat 9 attacks in a round, or casting Slow instead and them eating about 5.

A) You're still killing the trolls, so it fits.

B) Three trolls are a CR 10 encounter, so presumably you're in a level 8+ party. If at that point your wizard can't wipe the floor with them by himself, well... Even if you're literally a blaster caster (lowest build on the totem pole...), at that level you can exterminate them with a single maximised fireball (assuming you took MM reductors and +CL stuff like any blaster will). /Talking 3.5 here./

Uh, I have no idea how you guys play your games, but if I ever faced 3 trolls at level 8 I'd think the DM was either playing it easy or had some trick up their sleeve and we were about to be hosed. Three trolls are a CR 8 encounter, the party will take three trolls at level 5 and they will LIKE it, because all CR is overcalculated (exceptions: the 3.5 MM2, which is UNDERcalculated, and the 5E Intellect Devourer which is just a TPK in the making).

Yeah when DMing in 5e you have to judge what creature you are putting against your players because the CR rating are not balanced.
