1. Step on the middle 4 buttons to rotate the platforms so that you can reach the buttons to the left and right.
2. step on the switches to the left and right to rotate the centre platform in-till you can step on the blue buttons.
3. step on the blue buttons to rotate the platform by the entrance so that it sits in front of the chest.
4. jump back to the buttons to the left and right of the centre platform and rotate the centre platform till so that it is flat with and the buttons are exposed.
5. jump back to the centre platform and stand on the buttons to rotate the outer platforms till it forms a path to the treasure chest.
Earlier there was a lootable bookcase stacked basically on top of another bookcase.
My fighter is a level 8 super strength athlete with shoes that let him walk up walls. yet somehow he can't climb up a 7 foot bookcase?
atm flying requires walk able ground below you in case the fly spell gets cancelled, same for the spider climb and teleportation spells are not allowed in case you only prepared 1 as to not brick yourself by casting the spell and getting stuck on the other side.
I think the OP is having the same problem I did, which is once you've left the area, the bridge is sometimes left rotated away from the entrance. You can exit the dungeon once you finish it, but if you didn't walk back to the entrance, the bridge remains rotated away from the entrance. Since you can't ever walk back in from the backside of the dungeon, there's now no way to reach the platform/buttons to rotate it. I had this problem doing one of the quest board quests (for Level 4) that tried to send be back there, but neither misty step nor fly will get me back to the rotating platform to mess with it again.
Same issue here. bridge is pointed the wrong way and I can't get to the mechanism no matter what I try. an easy fix would be to allow the mechanism to be triggered by throwing a spell at it to reset it to the front maybe? My OCD is driving me crazy with that side quest just hanging out there in the wind with no way to complete it lol.
You're not wrong about Fly needing ground underneath you to work, but it's weird that this isn't the case for the floating library. You can use fly in the entire room. Not sure why the devs allowed it in this one case.
Left the Bridge by the Quest in the Libary and now the bridge is "on the Wrong Way"
It's not that fly requires you to fly over solid ground, it's that you can only fly within the movement grid. (You can fall to your death, even with Featherfall. I've done it while trying some stuff out.) The grid for the library is better made then many areas (because it's such a confusing place I guess) but it's not perfect. The big problem is that while characters can jump between two disconnected grids, you cannot fly between two disconnected grids. A lot of jump areas in the game do not have the grids connected anywhere.
By clicking the button on the center of the compass, or by holding shift, you can activate the planer grid mode. Use the mouse wheel to change elevation. (If you can't change the elevation properly in an area, move the camera around a bit.) You can see where the grid is, and thus where you can and can't go. This mode is also useful for aiming some spells, like Fireball, Lightning-bolt, and others. Also useful for Spider Climb, Misty Step, Dimension Door.
There is a sidequest that brings you back to the caves, and when that quest is active it should rotate the bridge back. If it doesn't, you'd have to use Dimension Door to get to it and rotate it. Nothing else will cut it right now. (The movement grids are not connected, and it's too far for Misty Step. And Misty Step while Flying doesn't work the way it should.)
