Real dice roll mod
Won't it be nice to have an option for rolling real dice? Solasta can be the first computer game in it's genere to allow this. And it would be perfect for fans of tabletop D&D. I tryed to develop my own mod to do this and it works, i find it very exciting. I gave options to choose which kind of roll you want to be manual and which one has to be automatic. Like melee or ranged attacks, heal, death, etc. You can decide which roll you want to be manual (ex. roll only for the heroes and not for the enemies, etc.) What do you think about this idea?

I dont think i understand exactly what you are saying, can you elaborate? :)

I think he means he wishes there was an option to use REAL dice on his table to make rolls instead of the computer rolls.

So basically rolling real dice on your desk, and then inputting what you rolled into the game? I don't know man, I guess if you just really like the tactile feel of rolling real dice, but it seems like it would get old and tedious after a while, and there's nothing to stop you from inputting natural 20's every roll if you wanted to. I find it's pretty satisfying with the animated dice rolls.

yes exactly. For sure you have to be honest with yourself if you're playing with real dices, but it is something tabletop gamers are used to.it's not tedious if you can activate and deactivate only the rolls you want to be manual. Also, this mod will make you able to play the campaign with your friends as a real multiplayer tabletop experience.

This made me laugh, thank you.

Yeah, this would bog down the pacing A LOT.

you're welcome :)

it's also possible to use physics engine to simulate dice rolling in the game. it can even allow you to shake them manually before throwing.

yes. and this can be also disabled in options so if you don't like it you can revert back to standard rolling. But i still believe rolling real dices is something real d&d players likes more, and Solasta can be the only computer game with a true gm-less tabletop experience.

Won't it be nice to have an option for rolling real dices?

I mentioned this in a thread a couple of years ago, but in a somewhat different way than what you are proposing. I think they will design a game like that in the future, but it won't be you rolling at home, it will still be generated in the game. It will take a talented, brave, and wealthy developer to design a game like that, but I think it's going to happen one of these days.

It won't just be you rolling dice in the game, but you will actively have to participate in everything that goes on, with your party, as the world around you changes. The reason it would be so expensive to make is that much like a choose-your-own adventure book, there would be so many different branching storylines that no playthrough would be identical.

Even if you spoke to your friends about the game they would have a different story to tell you. This would make it the best role-playing game ever made. It may not be infinitely replayable, but it would be highly replayable.

This is not something that will be developed any time soon because the GB space required would send console cronies to their early graves. Mobiles would obviously be shut out. That would only leave PC's. Even with the money the game industry is pulling in these days ($175 billion in 2020) it would be a risky project because mobiles make nearly $100 billion in annual revenue accounting for 57.2% of the market. Console content is a distant second at $40.61 billion in annual revenue while PC trails with $34.12 billion.

Until developers stop catering to consoles and mobiles, it's never going to happen.

Wanting to input your own "rolled" dice? GrumpyOldDude is that you?

What I'd do, instead, is use physically simulated dice ingame. A lot of software is doing this these days. Even D&D Beyond does it, right inside a web browser.

I posted on youtube a quick video of my working Manual Roller Mod. I made this for real dices lovers like me.

It sounds tedious to me. I guess your vision is people would gather around the monitor/TV display instead of a table top. Pause the game, discuss what tactics they want to use, roll the dice, input the dice into the game, then unpause it to see what the results would be. I would just rather do that around a table with a free flowing story that a dungeon master can adapt to how things are going.

not in any way a put down etc. It appears English is not your 1st language, though 95% of what you have typed, is extremely clear. As an FYI...dice, is the plural form of die. "Roll a 6 sided die" or "roll 3 6 sided dice". There is no 'dices'. (I wish when I was taking Spanish, I had been corrected more often when I misused words)
