I assume - as with other games by smaller teams - the larger numbers of saves introduce slowdown on older systems (just a guess). But, honestly, you probably don't need as many saves as you're using.
I adopted a "save before handing in a chapter-linked quest", "save when entering a new map" and "save when leaving a map" model, then sometimes having additional temporary saves before difficult encounters. Other than that, the quicksave. Meant I didn't have to micro-manage the saves much.
Early in the game, I hit the limit quickly, but not for any great reason; just not reusing old saves.
1. Don't forget. Many games have no manual saving option these days. I appreciate that here because autosaving option to load only the last save is a kind of patronizing of consumers.
2. Beside of that, many games allow only 3-4 save slots which often is really to few. Especially when saves were automatically overwritten or to mention the worst scenario... cloud saving only.
If you want more, make a backup of your saves and replace the older ones. In this case... be content with what you have and learn to appreciate it.
If you can't, you should search another hobby ;]
But it's like the passion for collecting in games with items? The chests/storage's/are always too small ^^
If it were 50 saves per party I would not be thrilled about the limit, but politely keep quiet and recycle saves. 50 save limit + every party is saving in the same folder and writes over autosaves and quick saves sucks.
In the end, even if there weren't any bugs the worst part isn't the 50 saves. The worst part is they don't have 50 slots, they have 50 saves so you can't just save over something *and* pick a new name or the other option would be to give us a way to delete the files en masse. You gotta delete them one at a time and confirming one at a time. Without having the slot idiom, it needs a way to just check off a bunch to delete at once.
But yes, I save pretty much constantly. I've got a massive hard disk, disk space costs nothing nowadays but I would do the same 35-40 years ago when we had 20MB hard disks or had to save to 360k floppies or get this we saved on to cassette tapes. Storage is cheap now, why not save often?
50 saves, is MORE than enough.
Sure after a play through I may have 30+ saves for a party but it is not like all the save are needed after that. Just clean upiafter yourself. :P
Usually even with bugs the autosave, quick save and two/three normal saves should be enough for a party. Anything else is just a waste of spave waiting to be deleted.
