I can see why they did it this way, though. It would be even more annoying to have to go through the long rest screen every "day" on a long wilderness journey. Perhaps a little banner somewhere (there's lots of screen real estate) that if you click on it, takes you to the usual long rest screen the next time a day ends, might be a good implementation that more or less gives everyone what they want.
So it can be done. I use it for spell swaps before areas.
Ah. Thanks.
Ive never had to swap a spell for movement because I either have it equipped or tell myself to bad. No going bsck on my own. Only exception is during a background quest.
I like to mix up my spells so I’m not always using and doing the same thing. So for me it’s spell rotation to keep from getting monotonous and bored. And I role play my group discussing things on the way to their next encounter so that’s when it gets done. I don’t use my gameplay knowledge of what’s at the other end so I pretend their guessing and thus changing spells. I don’t use it for attunement since once something is identified you can short rest anywheree it’s safe no need for long rest for that.
That is true about the short rest, they at least made it easy to swap items around so the three slot limit isn't to bad. Of course to know when to swap would require using knowledge you have of whats happening ahead.
I have thought of using a D20 to choose what spell is loaded so that might be a future play through. I know on the premade characters there is a auto choose button for the caster so I might just use that to see what choices where made or might just be completely RNG dependent ,
Yeah. I don’t use short rest to attune for battles, just if I find something in the field and identify it,I may short rest to put it on someone. If any character has less than 3 attunements I’ll add it to open slot person. If everyone is full I’ll add it if better thsn something they have and seems like it’d fit their character.
It’s tough after the first play through to not fully prepare knowing what’s coming up. I’ll try to use logic from conversations, quest info, etc. and of course once I get somewhere snd get to first long rest I might make adjustments as any party would based upon what they’ve encountered. It makes some areas harder but more creative fighting from my side. Knowing what’s coming up and preparing can make most any fight easy or a lot easier anyways. But this way I’ll be getting stomped snd be like “I knew I should have taken spirit guardian snd daylight”. Lol. But Then I pull off the fight using less popular spells, a little different strategy and feel good about it.
I never noticed the auto choose on premade. Would be cool on custom too. I always like randomized stuff.
I noticed it on Nalia (I think that is her name), I really hadn't used the premades always preferring to make my own characters when possible. Then I heard how they might have unique voices, which is seems like they do to me but I am half deaf so might be deceiving myself. They also have unique looks Nalia for example has an actual cape you can see on her starter outfit anyway I haven't been lucky enough to have a chain shirt drop and my faction isn't high enough to buy it. So I can't say if she would keep the cloak with different armor equipped.
I’d swear they have unique voices too. I usually have 1-2 of them in my party. I must just instinctively level up so fast I never saw it. Now I gotta go try it
Not unlike me to miss things. I was almost done with my 2nd play through and bothered I couldn’t access inventory just using the mouse. I asked in Discord if anyone knew of a way snd like 10 people immediately said “there’s this sneaky button”
and then attached screen shots of the big word “Inventory” in the bottom left of your pic.
Nialla’s cloak is part of her Adventuring Wizards Clothing. If you move that to another character the look follows. It is though so see something that looks like a cloak. So we know they can do it.
Edit: dang. The Auto for spells isn’t just on premades. But all casters. My sorc. My wiz. My ranger. Lol. I absolutely never look there cause I just pick my spells and the button switches to “change” so it’s all I ever see.
I am even more sure of it now and they also appear to have a few lines of unique dialogue. Now it has been a bit since I first played the tutorial and after the first time listening I would just space bar through it.
In a discussion a friend mentioned different phrases used if you make a all premade party, I had one and hadn't noticed so I decided to check if things where differently phrased and they appear to be.
I took the halfling rogue, the dwarf paladin, the half elf fighter and the human sorcerer. During the tutorial they used different phrases for instance the half elf fighter said she met her fight with blood and pain not straight on which was what I was use to hearing. Then when they are trying to get the rogue to talk about the last tutorial mission she told him not to be a kill joy, she also appears to shift seats as she was at the end of the table then she was sitting next to him.
When the Sorcerer talked about his bit he mentioned listening to the birds singing and watching the clouds floating by. I will keep an eye out to see if the other dialogues are changed up a bit, it could be the "alignment" choices as I don't think I ever took slang as a choice which two of them have. They still say a lot of the same lines but it seems to be different in places.
in discord one of the devs had said “ and Hectors sorcerous origin is a lot of fun too if you want to go a sorc route”.
Not sure if he just meant his subclass or perhaps implying there might be some more personality/bsck story there via dialogue.
