How to Level UP?
Asking for my wifey,

She says there was no screen to distribute any points after a level up. She just got a box that said level up and she clicked it.

So do you normally get a screen that allows you to distribute points, select skills or proficiencies after you click the level up button?

Will this button only show up after a long rest if your character has enough xp?

Thanks for any help!

One can distribute points to ability scores, in lieu of choosing a feat, every four levels. Some classes, like Fighters and Rogues, can do this slightly more often.

There are no points to distribute during every level up. Usually only at level 4 and 8 do you get to choose between improving attributes or taking a feat.

The rest depend on the class and the level they are at. If you are a full spellcaster, like a wizard, you will always get to pick at least spells, but a fighter for example chooses nothing at level 2, subclass at 3 and attribute/feats at 4.

You can only level up after a long rest.

Yes, just have your wife complete a long rest, this can be done at an inn, a campfire, or there is an option you can choose when you start traveling to have it interrupt the travel when you have the ability to level up.

You can see what each class/subclass will get at the different levels by choosing the higher levels button, it lays it all out what you get and when. It sounds like she is confused because except for two levels for the majority there is no points to distribute. You can get stat adjustments through spells, potions and items to cover the rest of the levels.
