Especially when they are running in and out of it like that they kill themselves for you.
Two light cantrips on the weapons of my cleric and paladin was enough to tip the encounter in my favour every time.
That could be the problem - what to do without a paladin or cleric in the group?
Use torches. Use Flaming Sphere. Use anything that makes light.
EDIT: Maddy Greenisle has the crafting recipe if you have Brotherhood status.
Ring of fire around your champions. Vampires dead :)
Wall of Fire. :)
I didn't have so much trouble with this particular battle, though my efforts to prep for the battle before it started were not entirely successful. One thing I did notice though is that at times it seemed like the main enemy was specifically concentrating on my Sun Cleric who kept making the world bright, first with a Channel Divinity and then with a spell. And for a bit he did manage to drop my cleric. One thing that people may be overlooking, is that for enemies that like to dash in, attack, and then move away, the Ready Action can be very useful.
If you don't have Daylight, see what you can do to add light, fire, or radiant damage. If you have none of those, I don't think the fight will go well for you. Fire arrows?
OP, do keep trying. It's a GREAT game provided you have a caster or two. If you don't and you're frustrated, it might be worth re-rolling, I hate to say.
