Um, why does my lady elf have a man's voice?

I'm playing those little intro adventures, and my female sylvan elf has a male voice. A bit high, yes, but I'm almost certain that it's a dude. Did I make some mistake in character creation? Is there any way to edit the characters once the game has started?

For some reason, female voice #3 in the character creator is the same as male voice #3

There is no way to edit characters after the game has started.

Well that's certainly an unfortunate bug.

But at least it's one that made me laugh :D

My guess is to provide more gender neutral choices, along with the choice of pronoun. The character creator doesn't have a lot of sliders like in some higher budget games, but giving you more voice choices and pronoun choice increases character customizability at very little programming effort.

Not a bug, devs already said in a previous post that voice is the same for male and female and meant to be gender neutral or questionable both ways. Of course it 100% sounds like a dude, but I probably have some phobia for saying that.

I understand the need to allow a masculine voice for women and vice versa....but how about they do that after there's more than TWO frickin other voices to choose??

Gender stuff or not, at least have 4 voices for 4 characters.

It reminds me of Oblivion where you would have two characters with the same voice arguing about mud crabs or the Oblivion gates.

i had a prob when i first started playing where i didnt choose that voice for any characters but then added my characters and decided to redo one bf starting the campaign. so, i deleted and added the new one to the campaign.. 3 of my characters had the same neutral voice..

I agree. With so little other options available, it looks like a very strange decision to me.

I am quite certain, the limitation was due to budget. With every line being voiced, this men voicing each ine, IN each avaialable vocal option. So, 6 readings, for each line. The addition of a 4th male and a 4th female voice, would necessitate then 8 recordings, of each and every line of dialogue. A 33% increase in time and budget allocated for that portion of the project. N small matter to be certain.

But why not making 6 voices total (3 male/ 3 female) and simply making them/some of them available for both genders?
