Shove off--__

When my thief creeps up behind an enemy and tries to shove them off a ledge they are on, he doesn't seem to have the option to do it ?

Am I missing something, or can a player (any player, not just a thief) only shove enemies off a ledge AFTER they have detected you - which seems illogical.

I think you're talking about being behind someone wanting to use the "shove" action in order to initiate combat. In that case, yes I agree you should be able to take that action but currently can't, because if you choose to "attack" from your non-combat menu to initiate combat, it automatically assumes you also mean to take your default attack action as your first action in that combat.
