Where else can you buy Rations other than the Emporium
I am just not able to find enough rations to complete the longer trips, like out to the Tower way into the badlands,

I have one character with +4 Survival... but I cannot get enough rations EVEN with Survival suplimenting it.

There's only a whopping 10 rations available from the Emporium and being that its an 11 day trip you'd need 44 Rations if you DIDNT have anyone with survival skills.

So where else can you buy them... I cannot seem to find any vendor other than this one.

I have no answer for you but - I could definitely be wrong here - doesn't the trip just get longer and you spend more time hunting if you are low on rations? I had a fast trip of two nights that turned into three nights. I assumed it was due to low rations. I have no proof at all other than that is what I assumed.

When you run out of Rations you stop camping... and there's no option to say... only camp every 2 days or so.

So you will expend 4 rations each day until they're depleated, which means your 11 day trip will leave you with no rations to camp with by the time you get there. So you won't ever be able to camp or take a Long Rest at the location even if you find a campfire.

And that doesn't even include the return trip which is another 11 days.

I travel using "Fast" and i always end up scavenging tons more food than I can eat.

Well it doesn't seem to matter whether its fast travel or not, You get constantly surprised anyway so the Surprise rolls are overdone.

My Trip to the Bone Keep after saving up 24 rations by traveling back and forth between the Ruined Fort and City storing up and buying the 10 they have each trip that was the max I could get in 3 back and forth trips.

So I started the Trip to Bone Keep... Found food up until the Badlands.... then with +4 Survival skill...

It went like this for 4 days in a row...

Found no food
Found no food
Found no food
Found no Food

Meanwhile encounters were ALL undead and all 4 of them were surprise. Which means no rations unlike with bandits who carry them.

One was a cheeze encounter... as in they caught my party asleep... casted a sleep spell and it went instantly to the game over screen without me ever even touching my characters. Thus insta killing the whole party without being able to touch the characters

That's a problem and is going to frustrate normal players of this game. This needs to be removed or allow a guard posted instead of all party members asleep.

I arrived at the Tower with 7 Rations which is only enough for ONE Long Rest... and NO rations on the way back to the city.

I am going to have to recommend at this point the Devs both increase the number of buyable rations... and create an outpost half way to the Bone Keep with buyable rations.

Also... remove the Sleep spell from the Necromancer encounter OR allow guards to be posted on Rest so there's no insta-kill random encounters like that.

Rations need to be unlimited to buy and much more common to find.

The rations in the shop are replenishing in a certain pace. If you rest at the inn it does not consume rations right? It costs 10gp but that way the shop again has more rations. I dont know the rate at which it gets them but last time when I bought all rations and took a rest there was already 8 rations available to be bought again

So make sure everytime you come to the city first buy the ten rations, and then before you Head out have a rest and buy all that is now available again. I did not have trouble like that

Cleric spell - Create Food - can help if you can cast 3rd lvl spells.

Evil slacker Tip you can use the Cheat Engine to tweak the Vendor stock.

1. Search for 10 (Assumes max stock with Gorim)
2. Buy 2-3 rations
3. Search for new number (e.g 8 or 7)
4. Change value in Cheat Engine to desired ration stock to buy
5. You should see the vendor refresh to the above number

I used to find so much food in the wilderness that I would be overloaded when I went through the dungeons. Now I'm concerned if I'll have enough to make it back home. :P

It is a clear design flaw to not have any recourse for rations, and only being able to get 10 - 2.5 days worth in town. I don't think there are any locations which are only 2.5 days from the starter town.

I had 21 rations for the 11-day trip, and I elected to travel at a fast pace to reduce the time to 7 days just because of the food situation. That's still 28 rations needed - and while I found some food along the way, I reached my final destination with only 4 rations, which means I found 11 rations along the way.

I don't think I'll have enough to rest on the return trip.

"It's fine for me" is a bad argument, because YOU are not EVERYONE.

It's not good if you're supposed to know in advance that you must buy all the rations every time you're in town or else get stuck. Especially because you start out with very little gold, and the store does not increase the ration supply to account for the increasing length of your trips.

Agreed, rations need to be much more abundant based on the length of the journeys.

I was not making an argument but suggesting a working Solution to a common problem.

Ha Cheat engine is your friend to work around this design issue, since you can increase the store stock and your money supply.

Also the Skeleton Tower final level has lots of resource / spell slot draining mini-boss fights so are going to need extra rations.
Plothos Nov 6, 2020 @ 1:24pm
Create food is great once you hit 5th level (and have a cleric). I have read that the level 1 ranger spell goodberry will create berries that work as rations as well.
