Scroll Use and Crafting Scrolls
Howdy :)

So, still learning 5th edition but I seem to have a problem. Currently I am running four sylvian elves, Paladin, Cleric, Rogue and Wizard. So, when using a scroll I keep getting this message -

You are unable to use this scroll because you do not have access to this spell (paraphrasing, but something like this)

So, are you unable to use scrolls unless you can cast that spell? That seems to be way off D&D of earlier versions.

So my wizard is crafting Magic Missile Scroll yet no one can use them except the wizard. This is going to cause problems if we find scrolls that no one can use.

Yeah you gotta have the spell on your spell list. From the 5E's player's handbook:
A spell scroll bears the words of a single spell, written in a mystical cipher. If the spell is on your class’s spell list, you can read the scroll and cast its spell without providing any material components. Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible. Casting the spell by reading the scroll requires the spell’s normal casting time. Once the spell is cast, the words on the scroll fade, and it crumbles to dust. If the casting is interrupted, the scroll is not lost.

In D&D 5e most scrolls require the spell to be on your spell list -- for your class -- to cast them. Note that there are exceptions like some Cleric Domains and subclasses include some Wizard, Cleric or Druid spells on their spell lists.

right...to use a scroll with a wiz spell, the player/character has to be able to cast, wiz spells of that lvl. Same for CL spells.

Yep only Wizard can cast those. But yes you should craft them because that way you get basically free spell slots for tougher fights. Magic missile is the bread and butter, reliable damage

A Thief (Rogue subclass; also in the SRD) gains the "Use Magic Device" class feature at 13th level but, unfortunately, this game will likely be capped at 10th level.

Actually, the only requirement to use a scroll is that the spell is on your spell list. I think there is an archetype that allows rogues to cast spells in Solasta; I don't you learn spells past the third level though.

Use Magic Item doesn't affect your ability to use scrolls, sadly. This would, on the other hand, allow them to use wands and the like.
