Also, the Crown appears to give +1 to ALL Saving Throws; it does not affect AC.
Seems they house ruled it. In normal dnd, as you say, it does not work like this, it sets your ac 16, not base ac, so evene if you got +5 dex your ac is still 16.
This house ruling is broken as BLEEP, doing multiplayer with my friend who uses druid and barbarian, the Barbarian has con 20 and dex 20, no armor +2 bracers of armor and + 1 cloack of protection, his ac is 29.
He also has belt that gives him 25 str, not to mention when he rages he gets extra hp and halved damage so...
Does 29 ac 25 str barbarian halving damage taken with barkskin sound balanced ? :D
Yeah barkskin is broken in this. It's only supposed to give you a 16 Ac or do nothing if your Ac goes above 16. I too made a barbarian with 29 AC and was broken af.
I think they let it stack as there was no monks and barbarians in game but forgot to change it once they added the dlc =)
Fighter is the worst version of fighter in solasta. Use ranger pally or barb instead. All 3 make good dex builds.
Imagine OP has figured that out considering the year old necro thread.
They've overlooked a few things like this. For example the gold Dragon at the end of the game, I killed with fireballs that I was shooting into the crowd because gold dragons are supposed to be immune to fire, but they simply forgot or didn't implement that.
You add Empress Grab Chain is 13 Base, +2 Magic, + Full Dex Medium Armor. Which should give you 20. Plus the recipe is available for purchase so easy to get and make.
Nah, the empress garb isn't armor without requirements, it genuinely is clothing. That's why it works with the bracers of defence and a few other things that only work when not wearing armor (ie barbarian con-armor). It doesn't work with mage armor any more though I remember it doing so when I last played, possibly I am misremembering. Though I am using the community patch at the moment so maybe the community patch fixed that specifically.
Because it works with bracers, and so is functionally 17AC+Dex, it's better than enchanted fullplate for high dex characters.
I just wish it wasn't so ugly.

Here is a pic of a bunch of AC bonuses on a barb wearing the empress garb if you want to have a look. It is on the community expansion mod, so if anyone wants to point out anything that doesn't work stock please do, but as far as I know all of this worked stock last time I played (though last time I played, barbarian didn't exist...)
Could actually get more than this, for example I am missing +1 AC from the protection sword that got deleted out of my inventory when I respecced :D.
This guy with that sword, an extra ring of protection which I forgot to add, and the path of stone AC will get up to 37 AC. And there's probably even better +AC items, I just can't be bothered digging through the item menu.
Community expansion has an option to change the look of empress garb to any piece of clothing you want. I usually pick sorcerer clothes
I actually noticed this while figuring out how to respec a character to show the garb off, though thanks for letting me know if I hadn't.
I guess that means I am not alone in finding it fugly.
