Dex Fighter
Ok so I am able to get a dex fighters AC up in DnD but I can not get up it past 17 in this game. That is really not enough to use as a fighter. Might as well use a melee ranger. Also, the finesse weapons are extremely limited. Has anyone acquired any new finesse weapons and or increased a dex fighters AC over 17? Without a shield.

Without magic items or a shield, I think 17 is as good as it gets for a DEX based character. 5 DEX modifier plus studded leather's 12 AC.

There's only 5 finesse melee weapons in the 5e PHB.

best you can do is some how get access to the shield spell and 20 Dex for a total of 18 AC.

In 5e Dex is no longer the end all be all stat, heavy armor does not allow for dex if you really want to get higher AC you best bet is full plate with a shield. This will give you a AC of 20 then combine that with something like shield of faith for an AC of 22.

Without magic armor that's the best you can hope for, keep in mind the power scaling of D&D 5e is a lot smaller then 3.5 so 22 AC is effectivly end game AC.
D&D is about making choices.

You want that second off hand attack? Fine, no shield for you so -2 ac. But you can get higher still.

If you use a mage armor spell you're already at 18 with the +3 that provides along with your +5 dex mod. I am fairly sure you can cast mage armor on others in Solasta and if not go dex paladin and use shield of faith for a +2 armor class modifier.

But generally if you want a high ac fighter tank go for heavy armor, if you want more damage and go the dex route then the natural consequence is a lower armor class.

Again, that's a choice you have to make.

Do they have a minimum str requirement for heavy armor in this game like DnD?

Barkskin from a Greenmage: 16 AC + 5 DEX mod = 21 AC

Not sure, a full plate should need str. 15 exept it is a mithril one.

It shouldn't work that way, Barkskin only gives you 16 AC if your total AC is less then 16 ac.

Barkskin
2 transmutation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V S M (A handful of oak bark)
Duration: Up to 1 hour
Classes: Druid, Ranger
You touch a willing creature. Until the spell ends, the target’s skin has a rough, bark-like appearance, and the target’s AC can’t be less than 16, regardless of what kind of armor it is wearing.

I also just picked up the bonus feat armor master. Supposed to raise your AC by 1 no matter what armor you are wearing. It never raised it by 1. It never changed.

From the spell description, barkskin seem to work as intended, buffing the armor unless it's base AC is 16+.

Actually I think that feat is broken because it does not work on any of my characters.

Do you have the hauler feat? Your inventory is stacked.
Mork Oct 30, 2020 @ 5:00pm
No, just 16 STR.

Rolling for stats is kinda overpower...

Ya I made a 18/18/18/14/13/12 Human paladin.

This could be resolved by just creating a dual wielding Ranger, as they get Barkskin as a spell.
