Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate Error

I downloaded the game a few days ago, everything seemed fine until yestersay. When i try to open the game i get a small box at the top left of my screen saying "Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient. Tried connecting 5 times." then i get an error message and it wont open. Any insight? id hate to quit playing the game so soon because it wont launch.

I had the same thing, it wouldn't load for about a day but it came back the day after that. Now it's happening again and I'm wondering if it's an issue on my end? I don't have an issue with anything else that I try to run.

Sadly, I haven't figured out a way to fix it, and this is the most current post with the same problem I've found.

EDIT: May have found a fix. Although almost everything else connected to the internet was working, when I tried a few other games, they also couldn't connect to their servers. I reset my router rolling my eyes, thinking "This isn't going to fix it. This is dumb."
It worked. I feel dumb. But hey, whatever, it worked. Maybe it'll work for you too?

Neverwinter is F2P, but there are micro transactions in game. You can buy Zen with real money, but you can use in-game currency called Astral Diamonds to purchase Zen as well depending on how the market is going. So yes! Its a great free-to-play game and you don't ever have to spend a dime if you do it right.

I couldn't get the game to patch or connect until I went into the options, turned on "Force Verify", and restarted the game.

How do you do that? I'm having a similar problem and 1-2 files keep on needing to be relocated every time I launch the game.

If you are have steam account, go to that games library, and right click ur neverwinter->properties->local files-> verify integrity of game cache. ;)

Apparently, I found out the problem. If you are using a particular wifi connection, you have to update the launcher from that router itself. The developers somehow missed the fact that changing routers should allow you to update, or some compatibility issues with router. I came back to my original router and everything is working again. Check whether your internet connection settings are the same since you last updated the launcher.
