Missing sound?

The game is oddly quiet. For example, I don't hear footsteps, no atmospheric noises, and most sounds are fairly muted/quiet. Is this normal or is something broken on my end?

I have the same issue - I don't know why but abilites, almost everthing is missing it's sound effect. I'm going to mess with audio settings and things and try and get it fixed.

Had the same problem I solved it by setting the Windows Audio Devices back to Stereo (was on 7.1 by Realtek driver settings).

This solved it, seems generally better to use Stereo as Default and let the games do the surround settings by itself.

I can confirm - onboard soundcard does virtual 7.1 surround - and setting that up will cuase this too. I fixed it a long time ago by just going back to stero as Blickfang said
