Can you play as a necromancer in this game?
I played this at release for a bit but haven't been back since, just curious if there was a necromancer class or something where you can summon undead etc. Don't recall anything back then, I'm sure a lot has changed. I did some research and didn't see any necromancer but saw something about the scourge warlock which had some things related to necromancer but not consistent summoning unless I'm wrong. Any info is appreciated.

I don't think so, you can try the scourge warlock with a soul puppet (there is an option to skill for a permanent soul puppet as well) as pet...
But for a "raising the dead" class i would point to Rift (F2P, Razer promotion running at the moment for some extras, and you can grab the ascend-a-friend code from my profile, if you want to try Rift out) for example.

Thanks man, I've played Rift as well with several characters, maybe I will revisit that for the necro, I appreciate the info.

Like Ironquest mentioned, Scourge Warlock is the closest you can get to a Necromancer in Neverwinter. Dungeons and Dragons Online (free to play and on Steam) has a prestige line for wizards called Pale Master that uses negative energy spells, can summon an undead companion, and can even take on an undead form like Wraith, Vampire, or Lich.

Thanks guys, I was hoping it would or will have one someday since the Baldurs Gates games have them (among others), I figured this would as well, I'm hoping this game gets a Necromancer class sometime, that would be really awesome.

rumor is that the next class will be druid, but there's not concrete info on that.
