Neverwinter

So how "free to play" is this game?
Is it the typical mmo where it's so called f2p until you start finding extreme limitations and then they ask for a fee to play the entire game or do you get to play the entire game for free entirely? Just wondering before I download the game.

This game is very free to play. Most of the things that you can pay for is if you want a different mount or to customize your armor. You can get through the game without paying.

But you won't look pretty doing it.

Actually you can look pretty doing it. There are more than enough free customizations.

This game is 100% free, but to improve the armor, weapons, etc., will have to pay, and then stupidly perform daily quests with all the gear. And you can not spend a penny, but by a little bit at the bottom. Such cases.

Hmm sounds more like a pay to win kind of game then. I don't mind grinding out stuff but not gonna get forced to pay for upgrades so I can perform better.

"but to improve the armor, weapons, etc., will have to pay" I think this is wrong. I'm at max level and did not pay a cent and I have best equipment. I would say it's more like "pay to not-spend-many-time-in-playing"... some kind of that. You can get everything with ingame-money, which you can earn by playing. But that's what you have to do - spend time to play. For some few items you have to spend some a lot more time(like you said, "grinding out stuff"). But you are never forced to buy something to progress further in the game. You can get every item(armor, sword, mount, ...) by playing. And the game is a lot with fighting, there is a little bit crafting too. But it's a lot fighting - if you don't want fight often, then this is nothing for you.

So...If you like fantasy-stuff and fighting-based games, you can give it a try. If you are more in crafting stuff or peacefull exploring, this is not often in this game.

Well if you can get everything from in game money that does sound better. I seen so many mixed comments that it gets confusing. I definitely don't mind grinding a lot if I have to but if it got to the point to get get new tier gear from cash shop only is when I don't even bother playing.

people here saying this game is 100% free are dellusional or never even got to end game. I played this game for over a year even before a steam release and everyone who got to end game knows you have to spend tons and I mean TONS of money just getting strong weapon and armor enchants, not to mention the newer relics system. Keep in mind the devs at cryptic were a dying studio that was bankrupt and bought up by the number 1 cash grab greedy chinese free to play company in asia perfect world. No one even wanted to get cryptic studios in america and a chinese parent company bought them. Ive spent probably 150.00 on this game over the last couple of years and I never will give them another dime as they change things to make it more pay to win every single patch and the founders dont get crap except stepped on more and more over time.

I can only speak for myself, but I have to disagree. I startet with Neverwinter before it was on Steam, too. I leveled up to maximum (level 60) and paused for a year or so. Then startet Neverwinter again about 3 months ago from now when I read, that there are campains and new stuff. Now I have every campain at 100%. I have every gear on "epic"(which is the highest you can get - fyi as not Neverwinter-player) and nearly every relic(or artifact or what it is called in english) too. So I think I'm pretty much at "the end" as you say and not spend a cent. I bought everything that I can't get on the ingame market, where you can buy stuff, even the stuff which you can buy for real money. Of course it's a lot more expensive than the "normal" gear. But the most things of the epic gear you can get by playing the game and the "holes" I closed with buying stuff from the market with ingame money. And at the market you get everything and can buy it for ingame money... I never had the problem to not find an item there, even when it was some limited stuff. It just needs some minutes to compare the offers and some research.

For information: I play the game nearly daily about 1-2 hours. So you have to spend some time on it - that's for sure. But you can get everything without paying real money. I just did it... so I can say from myself, it is free to play (as I understand free to play) and you can achieve every goal without paying real money.

Does get confusing with one person say you can get everything in game for free and others saying you can't. ;)

look at it this way, the most trouble you might have is upgrading enchantments to the final tier for weapon and armor enchants anyways, but like the poster said above if you have the time you can make it in this game. if you dont have the time drop a dime. I have played a little over a month and im lvl 60 half way through my campaings. protip though, save your astral diamonds for stuff you need and not want like you need marks of potency for enchant upgrades and wards so those upgrades dont fail both of which become more expensive as they increase in quality.
kolz4ever Jan 17, 2015 @ 11:10am
Yeah I definitely don't mind putting the time in for good gear and weapons I just wanna be sure I can get them with out being forced to pay money. But yeah from what I keep reading the diamonds is what will get you places so I will save them once I begin earning them.

Start levelling up your Leadership profession as soon as you can then. Over time, it really helps with the AD earnings. The Gateway makes life easier in that regard as you can set up tasks without needing to log into the game and it is mobile friendly.
kolz4ever Jan 17, 2015 @ 2:11pm
Not too sure what that is right now but I will keep that tip saved, thanks. Guessing there is an app for it? I will look in to that.
Fhellba Jan 17, 2015 @ 7:48pm
The gateway is an internetsite, you can just open it with any browser. You can log in there and do some stuff. Especially there are tasks. You have people who you can send doing this tasks. Then the task needs for example 10 hours to complete. And depending on what task you send them, they can get you these diamonds as reward. And so you can do it where ever you are(waiting for the bus, in school/at work, ...) and have a mobile connection with you mobilephone. ;) It's a nice little helper.
