Neverwinter: Probation for buying ZEN through my steam wallet?
I purchased ZEN in Neverwinter through the online menu system. The ZEN was delivered after payment but my Neverwinter account was put on probation. I can still play but I can not make ZEN transactions. I requested support through their online network and the reply I got back said your account has been placed on probation for buying ZEN through your steam wallet. Are we not supposed to use our steam wallets to purchase ZEN? Why is there a menu system in game that allows you to do this if it is a violation and will get your account placed on probation?

The same thing happened to me. I raised a support ticket and did much like okain suggests and they removed the block and now no problem buying Zen with steam wallet. Polite but firm in your message. AR

Cryptic makes it as hard as possible to buy Zen from outside sources, including Steam, as they want you to buy Zen directly from them so they get the whole money and not have a cut taken out by Steam.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us! Due to your recent Zen purchase from Steam, your account has been placed on a temporary probation period, and you will be unable to use the AD exchange, or purchase unbound Zen Market items until the probation ends. We apologize for the inconvenience, but Customer Service cannot remove or alter the duration of this probation.

For more information, please go the NW forums.

To whom it may concern,
I'm not very pleased with this although there is little I can do about it
other than offer bad feedback on the steam website as it pertains to this
issue. Neverwinter is a great game but if you do not want people to
purchase Zen through their Steam wallets then why do you allow them to do
it? Having your account or anything put on probation is a bad thing its a
disciplinary action for someone doing something wrong. I've not done
anything wrong so why exactly am I being punished?

I see hundreds of astral diamond spams in a day and receive in game emails
where people offer to sell 1,000,000 astral diamonds for $10.00 I chose not
to do this because I thought it might get me in trouble but doing what I am
supposed to do it seems has also got me in trouble. This is a free game and
you make money on your Zen market, punishing your players that play by the
rules is not a very good way to insure future business.

How long will my ban be in place and what ToS did I violate by buying Zen through the in game system? I've been punished for 9 days now and I have no idea what I've even done wrong.

For me the Steam Wallet has created a different, yet really annoying problem. I can buy Zen using the Wallet just fine - no probation or anything. So I buy Zen and then buy something from the Zen Store and I see "Due to recent purchase activity the items will be bound to your account and cannot be traded or sold on the Auction House until we have verified your payments.". This happens every single time I buy something from the store... So there goes my idea to buy a decent mount for my BF, since he doesn't have time to grind AD all day. Weird part is they have no problem with me using the Zen / AD exchange. I guess it is time to sell Zen and use AD to get that mount.

hey guys have had problem before, contact support

It is a complete disgrace. You pay Steam for the ZEN, after being pointed there in game and are immediately put on probation for days for doing so. I know of no other transactions in business conducted this way. Is it even legal? I mean, witholding goods legally paid for for any lenght of time can not be right.
Being forced to wait 5 to 9 days is, as I have said a complete disgtace and this shabby practice should be cease immediately.

Thanks for the support guys they finaly fixed their problems but I'll never buy ZEN again through STEAM or otherwise. I'll play the game free maybe and maybe I'll just find another game there are so many that are similar but dont have the same amount of frustration as this one does.

Yeah the tone of what they did is inappropriate by western standards but its a very good game and they charge little or nothing, its understandable that they prefer you to buy what little people actually pay directly through them rather than steam. Its like being in another country.. .. if you are enjoying their game daily and playing essentially for free... it seems you should adapt to their way of doing things..

Sure no problem Chaos but it would be nice if they would let you know what those ways are, if you click buy ZEN in THEIR game it takes you to your steam wallet. I would have been willing to pay them any way they wanted but they wrote the code that takes you to STEAM for payment not me.

Sounds like they are forced to have any payments go first through Steam since you are playing through Steam and the only way they can address the issue is to take some type of account action, which of course is completely wrong.. but being that it was just probation preventing transactions, and not locking you out of the game or anything, I think its just more something to laugh at.

I'd suggest you stop supporting this game by buying Zen since it already has an army of bots hell bent on AD farming which is inflating the prices in AH. No amount of real cash could give you an advantage over these bots anyway. There are plenty of nice games on Steam that could give you more entertainment than buying Zen. Also the developers of Neverwinter have a tendency to churn out new stuff that makes older stuff obsolete which in turn rubs salt or lemon juice into your buyer's remorse wound. My advice? Stop feeding this game. Plus the casual community in there is more toxic than a nuclear waste dump. Here's a little article from the forums.

http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?775451-Has-quot-Kicking-quot-from-parties-become-the-norm

There had been cases of deleted comments especially about the handling of bots in their preferred ARC forums where they can police their forums with extreme prejudice. I had recently made some comments on how NW denies their legit playerbase to a fair refining points farming by unjustifiably nerfing the Dragon Hoard Enchantment and forcing players to buy them from bots endorsed and supported by Neverwinter itself. Either supporting bots or buying Zen will benefit Cryptic/PWE. Thus far I am thankful for Steam that my posts will not be deleted unlike the draconian ARC forum. At this rate I foresee that this game will implode on itself within the next few years. My take on this game? Stop supporting it.

And that is EXACTLY why they do it. They make is SO inconvenient for you, that you will resolve to buy Zen from PWE via Arc instead of Steam. Steam gets a cut as a Vendor of PWE's product, you see. PWE want is ALL for themselves.

You DO also get a bonus at certain purchase tiers, though.

I would say, never buy ANY Zen ever again. From ANYWHERE.

Feck 'em.
