Neverwinter

Neverwinter

Really want to try this out, hows the combat?
Full disclosure, I love fantasy role playing games and I enjoy MMO's but I absolutely hate MMO combat systems......I mean, I really hate them.

I'm looking for a MMO to get into, does neverwinter have awful tab targeting like the majority of other MMO's or is it more fluid like DC Universe Online?

No Tab targetting and I'll be downloading and adventuring 2nite :P

Thanks for anyone who replies.

as far as the combat goes i find neverwinter's to be one of the funnest to actualy do. killing mobs becomes less of a chore because its actually fun to dodge attacks and freeaim your own back. your skills come in different styles 3 activated skills 1 class specific special skill 2 passive skills and 2 super's (you have to build up an energy to use skills). each class can actually choose among a various amount of each skill so your wizard maybe played way different then mine. like i said earlier the combat is all freeaim no tab target here and most enemies will show a red trail when they are about to do a big move so dodging becomes easy but still complicated with a limited stamina for dodging. all in all this game makes great use of people that stop and think and can really bend to the situation you wont get very far in neverwinter just rushing and smashing everything the same way over and over again.

It's an action rpg, meaning that you will have to dodge and manuver for combat (I too hate tab targeting). Each class handles dodging differently, and to different effects. Each class even has the ability to solo content to varying degrees of effectivness/ease. Though the Guardian Fighter, which I still very much enjoy, seems a little wonky with it's shield mechanic at times.

Unlike DC univers, the combat feels much more impactful. While at the same time it doesn't have an over abundance of powers, each one feels so far useful to some degree and situation. The Feat system is...standard I suppose and i've only broken level 10 with two characters (you only get 2 slots by defult); overall I feel much more drawn in to this world then I ever did in DC online.

Each character is fun in their own way, and each feels like a potential badass. Which one suits your playstyle will be a matter of trying them out. So far my two favorites are the cleric and the shield fighter, and after only a few days I'm already considering sinking money into the game. Which for me is a major endorsment.

So in short, not a tab targeting game and an action RPG like DC online, only better. I highly reccommend giving it a try. :)

I, myself, find the combat sistem incredibly simple and fun at the same time. It is quite a pleasure to maneuver trough attacking and dodging

Combat is the best part (aside from the foundry). Although, it's a bit unbalanced, especially when it comes to pvp (TRs anyone?)
