Neverwinter Companions
What is there to considering when choosing/buying a companion? In regards to class? Or what exactly?

Some advice would be greatly appreciated, I am started of playing and I am Scourge Warlock, my friend is the Great Weapon and another is a Cleric.

There's five different types:

I have a Scourge Warlock I just use an Uncommon Renegade Illusionist. (Because he has Lifesteal and Deflect Stats as well as the ability to summon a copy of himself.)

1) Man at Arms, Shieldmaiden, Dancing Shield, Neverember Guard, and Galeb Dhur is a Defender Companion which is equipped to protect you in battle, using various taunt/damage methods causing your target to focus on them instead of you.

2) Wayward Wizard and Tomb Spider are Controller Companions which are ideal for classes who need a little extra crowd control or assistance in battle outside of just damage.

3) Dog, Sellsword, Hawk, Wolf, Dancing Blade, Jagged Dancing Blade, Wererat Thief, Slyblade Kobold, Fire Archon, Honey Badger, Phoera, Panther and Vicious Dire Wolf are Striker Companions which are designed to dish out high damage.

4) Cleric Disciple, Apprentice Healer, Faithful Initiate, Fawn of Shiallia, Acolyte of Kelemvor and Alchemist Experimenter is a Leader Companion which is ideal for classes who need a little extra help staying alive during combat.

5) Ioun Stone of Might/Radiance/Allure, Cat, Icosahedron Ioun Stone, Chicken and Black Ice Ioun Stone are Augment Companions which only add their stats to your own.

All the ones list above are not every companion in the game they're just a few.

I like to use my wolf when attacking Dragons as they strike from behind and the Dragons tend to attack forward.

Honestly nothing beats a healer in my opinion mainly because I usually tank so its always nice to have something there to give you some hp but it honestly depends on what class you are
