Neverwinter

Neverwinter

Why its not pay to win and how to Farm AD
Not pay to win at all i started this game in December and I have:

12.6k Gear Score
Greater Vorpal (Considered best weapon enchantment)
Soul forged (Considered best armour enchantment)
Stone of allure (Considered best Companion as it augments all its stats to yours)
Every enchantment level 7 (Purple) Now i am going for 8.

Yes it is called griding but you can farm the equivilent of £10/$15 of in game money a day... how i hear you ask?

Run skirmish event and dailes to get the daily refinement of 24k astral diamond (which i think is pointless nowadays)

Run Gaunlgrym Tier 2 (D' King) the last boss drop is worth any thing from 10k - 200k AD and can be sold on the auction house.

Run T2 Dungeons, any T2 item that drops and is not found in a Dungeon Devlves chest can be sold on the auction house. and can be worth anything from 5k AD to 2,000,000 AD depending on what your running.

Its cheaper to buy refining stones that give refinement points, than it is to use low level stones to refine a high level stone (peridot, aqua marine, black opals). So sell enchantments!

It does take about 4/5 hours to farm 100-200k worth of AD but it depends how lucky you are that day with the drops as you don't win them all.

Level 60 rare items (blue) sell on the auction house and they drop in Sharandar and Dread Ring by the tonne. I always sell them a lot cheaper than there worth so i have a steady flow of AD coming in.

Find a not so greedy guild my first two level 7 enchantments were given to me and they were Radiant enchantments (Power) and my guild is quite happy to Greed if I am farming AD for a particular item.

Until you can run Epic dungeons it may seem pay to win as you will not get anything worth any value.

All this does depend on how good your group is so make sure you find a group that has a good gear score to hastely speed run dungeons more dungeons more AD

To conclude, Epic drops can be sold on auction house for a pretty penny but not chest epics. And just sell everything at the auction house not at the item vendor.

Why would you pay to win for the best gear as it just takes out one of the very few objectives you have as end game content.

Therefore I make the equivilent of £10/$15 worth of in game money every day I play, so if I did have the time to play 7 days a week I would easily make £70/$105 worth of in game money every week. But unfortunatly i dont have that much time lol.

I hope this guide opens peoples minds to how much it is a waste of money to buy anything using real money

Errmm the game was released on Steam on the 5th Dec..

You have played it for 279hrs on Steam alone, that equates to 3.5hrs a day, EVERY day since its been on here so clearly you do have the time..

There is nothing wrong with people spending money on games either in support of the devs or for personal reasons.

If you want to sit around grinding out in game items for nothing then i guess we can agree to disgaree as i prefer to work and then spend my time enjoying the game not grinding at it..

Spending on average 3.5 hrs a day grinding to get £10 of stuff for free is the real waste when for 1 hrs work you can get a minimum wage of £6..

Okay, but after you avoid the grind by buying the stuff what game are you playing?

You mean the same as when i pay £30 for a new game & play it because its fun to play rather than a grind..oh right yeah thats the one i play..
But, if you find it fun to play why isn't it fun to play without all the uberest stats?

Your answer amounts to "doing dungeons to get crystals for blue pets is stupid. I am going to pay cash for blue pets and do dungeons because they are fun!" I am sweating nothing in this game because I have figured out just as the poster elaborated on... if I just play the game I will have everything eventually. You don't need to sweat the details of how far you have to go because as you point out you are "playing it because it is fun to play." It just so happens you get AD in the process.

No having to play for a set amount of time everyday as the op has stated just to get £10 of free goodies isnt fun to play & as i said its a waste, a real job that pays you x amount so you can enjoy not only your RL & the game is not.

I never said its stupid to grind just arguing that people who spend money on the game arent the ones wasting anything, if you can afford it its not a waste, its all perspective based.
If you havent got a job then playing for 4+hrs a day may suit some but in my eyes working and earning the cash to enjoy things is far more rewarding.

If running Epic Pirates Lair 5 times during Dungeon Delves 3 times a day is fun for you then keep kidding yourself as thats what you would end up doing to gather the AD required by the op..

& lets not forget that without those paying people you wouldnt have any zen to buy in the first place.

THis is pretty true, but of course the people who will buy 200$ of zen, either don't care about their money or don't wanna invest any tme in a game

I totally agree.

To play the Devil's Advocate here, some people would rather 'work' in a fantasy world than face real competition with empty resumes or suffering a PT job washing toilets. Unfortuantely, some people don't get the 'luxury' nor can handle a RL high-wage & FT job. There's disabilities, availability, &/or transportation issues to consider as well.

That's why these types of reviews [like with the OP's example] are always lacking. Everything's relative depending on everyone's personal situation. Sure it works for the OP, because he ENJOYS grinding & found his personal system for it. Put him in someone elses shoes for a week & he might be complaining how terribly P2W it is.
Replies.....

1. I study 12 hours a week, work 40. trust me i dont have the time i just get days off and with this being the only game i am playing currently i can get the time in. And i live alone so i dont have to care for anyone but myself my time is my time.

2. You dont want to be running dungeons just through the dungeon delves as you cant make much Astral from the chest at the end because you can't sell them on the auction house. You need to be trying to win the epic drops via Need/Greed.

3. I have the money but if i buy everything I will lose the motivation to play. i like having a target to aim for. Also if you buy everything in the game what would be the point of playing as you will never gain anything better than what you already have. and there is no story or narrative to play for just dungeons where you run from a to b holding the mouse down.

4 i farm at least £10/$15 worth of astral every day and i play on average 3/4 days a week. So lets say i have been doing that every week since the beginning of this year, thats £240/$360 i have spent on the game without opening my wallet. Thats more than most people who have opened there wallet already
1. I dont have a crystal ball nor the ability to check these things but you OP stated you needed roughly 4.5hrs a day to do that strat and you were doing it for 3.5 so not far off, but I cant comment on your home life.

2. No not only through DD but the vast majority of players do because you have a cert prize that can be salvaged/used whatever you want at the end of it.

3. You may have the money but your terminology in describing it as a waste doesnt convince me you do, as you state your single(or just live alone) and work a 40hr a week job so forgive me for saying that not wanting to support a game youve played for 300hrs is well errrm a little wrong:/

4. You farm a virtual currency, your £240 doesnt exist as you havent laid a penny of it out so no you havent done more than most who have opened their wallet. It counts for nought, all youve done is have a free ride on paying customers backs and then say paying cash is a waste.

Without people putting money into it you would have no zen.. simple, no epic mounts, pets, no greater tenes.. They only exist in the game world/AH because people have purchased Zen and transfered it or the items they have into the game.

You really lost all credibility in your arguments as soon as you said "thats £240/$360 i have spent on the game without opening my wallet. Thats more than most people who have opened there wallet already"

There is nothing to "win". Play the game because you enjoy the social/rp or Forge/PvE content. Stop once you're not having fun anymore.

If you find yourself obsessing over being the be best at PvP, go back to DoTA2 or PlanetSide2, because you're playing the wrong game.

First 3 blah blah blah

4. If you were to spend £240 you would have the equivilent of me in two hours after being 60.

40-48,000 astral on the astral to zen store gets you 125 zen that how i got my epic mount (2000 zen) and stone companion (2000 zen) i am not sure how much it cost now but thats the equivilent of £40
And it would be had to look at this as some sort of selling point for the game, as you wouldn't be able to understand the "lingo" untill you played some of the game. This was aimed for the people who already claim its pay to win by playing it and not reaching 60.

Problem i find with putting money into a game i am always buying more. I will play this game hard, but soon i will change my interest and may not see this game for months if not years. Especially how next years assignment is to make a game using UDK.
